Improvement Suggestions
editArticle is less about the Kono Statement and more about conservative/right wing criticism of the statement in Japan, verging on POV issues. Needs far more on the process of its issuance, its impact in Japan-South Korean relations, and relavance today as the current Japanese government looks like it might revise it, etc. XinJeisan (talk) 02:13, 25 February 2014 (UTC)
- Rewrote the article itself, adding well sourced info for the article as well as removing the overly long and detailed criticism section which gave undue weight to a particular point of view. Hopefully other editors can add more context to the article. XinJeisan (talk) 02:40, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
Current Event
editThe current Japanese government has proposed to set up a committee to verify the Kono Statement. Though not many editors are involved at this time, this is a highly controversial move in East Asia. Maybe, though, it wouldn't be considered a current event when the results of the committee's research is announced? Since it is a 20 year old statement that is once again in the news due to the announcements of the current government to verify and revise it, I would think that would mean it is considered a current event. If not, so be it! :) XinJeisan (talk) 12:01, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
Contents of "See also" section
editFirst, on English Wikipedia, "As a general rule, the 'See also' section should not repeat links that appear in the article's body or its navigation boxes". (WP:SEEALSO). So I have removed Seiji Yoshida and Asian Women's Fund again.
Of the other links which 219.110.127.40 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) insists on inserting, we have:
- VANK, which is a South Korean group which did not exist at the time of the Kono Statement
- So Far from the Bamboo Grove, which has nothing to do with the Kono Statement either
- Lai Đại Hàn, which is completely unrelated to Japan-South Korea relations and whose only plausible relevance is in the "And you are lynching Negroes" sense
I fail to see the point of including any of these links. Regards, 61.10.165.33 (talk) 10:00, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
Asahi Shimbun
editI deleted the descriptions regarding the Asahi Shimbun's retraction of articles on Yoshida because I think they are irrelevant to Kono Statement. There is no mention of "Yoshida" in the Review. If anyone disagree, please explain the reasoning.―― Phoenix7777 (talk) 05:18, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
