"Kiwi", accent
editIs there no encyclopaedic source for his nickname "Kiwi Keith"? I believe it stems from when he was in a group with another Keith (perhaps even another Keith Holyoake) who was Australian, and it was used to distinguish him from "Ozzie Keith". And should there not be some reference to his remarkably elocuted accent, like no other contemporary New Zeaalander? --Hugh7 (talk) 07:26, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
Untitled
editSir is not normally included in names used in titles on wiki, as the period who received his knighthood or baronetcy will have been known for most of their life without it. See naming conventions. STÓD/ÉÍRE 04:12 Mar 25, 2003 (UTC)
I'm working at the State Services Commission in Wellington at present. There is a statue of Sir Keith Holyoake at the entrance. I have added some more of his decorations from the base. I'll put up a picture when I bring the camera in next time Dean
- Excellent. Down the road from the SSC is the house Holyoake lived in for many years as PM, I can't remember the name of it exactly (It's next to the Fijian High Commission though). You could get a pic of that too. --Lholden 05:09, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Ahhh cool. Is it the one on the corner? Or the one further along Pipitea St? I think the one further along is a historical building, I'll check why =) - Dean
- Umm... the one on the corner is the Fijian High Commission, isn't it? There is a plaque on the wall outside the house. --Lholden 20:37, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Garter
editDid he do anything special to get the Garter---what were the reasons for his award?202.89.159.211 14:50, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Toolbox order
editIs there any particular reason, besides the obvious chronological order, that the list of positions or functions does not feature the most important function (Gov-Gen'l of NZ) in the first place under the portrait?George Adam Horváth (talk) 09:31, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- He was PM for 12 years, G-G for three. As G-G he suffered from failing faculties, and his term was not notable. These may not be encylopaedic reasons, but probably account for the original order. --Hugh7 (talk) 08:39, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
Arms
editJust added his coat of arms. I have the description to include in the box but can't input it right now. WIll do so within the next day or so. A1 Aardvark (talk) 06:16, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
