General Counsel

edit

Is he nominated as Deputy Secretary of State or DoD General Counsel? Can you work for two government departments at the same time? 98.10.165.90 (talk) 11:48, 12 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

His nomination as DoD General counsel was withdrawn before he was confirmed.

Political party in infobox

edit

The political party field in the infobox is for use when someone is an elected representative or registered member of a given political party. It should not be used like this to say "Republican Party contributor." We have no source saying Sullivan is a registered Republican. Our only source says he made $7,000 in contributions to the GOP between 2003 and 2008. Donations to one party don't preclude donations to another. This infobox parameter should be removed unless someone provides a source specifying that Sullivan is a registered member of the GOP or self-identifies as a member of the party. I'm going to remove "Republican" from the infobox again because the only apparent source we have for this is a source saying he donated $7,000 to GOP candidates between 2003 to 2008. We don't have any sources saying what his registered party is, or saying which party he purports to be a part of. Donating a relatively modest amount of money to a handful of GOP candidates over a decade ago isn't cutting it. He very well could have donated to Democratic candidates as well. Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources

edit

I don't think that he has been nominated to this position. PN 350 is the only nomination referring to him and it only talks about being Deputy Secretary of State. As the Bush Administration left the position vacant, it could be possible that Trump is doing the same thing. For that reason, I'm going to hide it from the infobox temporarily. The Washington Post's appointment tracker reports that Sullivan was jointly/concurrently appointed as Deputy Secretary of State and Deputy Secretary for Management & Resources. It shows both appointments being announced on April 11, referred to Foreign Relations Committee on April 25, reported out favorably on May 16, and currently awaiting full Senate action. This Reuters piece seems to confirm the duel appointment. Marquardtika (talk) 15:29, 17 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
That's good enough information for me, I'll bring it back. Thanks! JocularJellyfish (talk) 20:19, 17 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
