This disambig page consists of four inappropriate entries (things named after Hancock) and two genuine Hancocks, of which the first of course has his own article at John Hancock. The remaining Texas representative doesn't warrant a separate disambiguation page. I've already moved all information to John Hancock while I was busy rewriting the article, and propose that we delete the now superfluous page (that shouldn't have existed in the first place, if you ask me). • Keep. "John Hancock" is common nickname for John Hancock Insurance. Plus, the phrase "the John Hancock" is also a very common term in New England referring to the John Hancock Tower. (I wouldn't be surprised if the same is true in Chicago.) My John Hancock

I've replaced the unsuitable lk to Signature with one to John Hancock#Famous signature. Especially if this violates the normal prohibition on multiple lks to the same "place" in the same Dab, it may make sense to break that section out as John Hancock's signature, since among users of the existing article, the few interested in his bio as a bio will consider the sig obstructively over-prominent, and the many interested in the sig will consider it annoyingly lost in material irrelevant to them.

Why do you regard the link to Signature as unsuitable? One common usage of "John Hancock" is to mean "signature". It does not specifically mean John Hancock's signature when used in this sense. Reverted link. Joffan (talk) 18:08, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

fact tag

There is no need to tag the signature link with a {{fact}} tag. The signature article has clear sources outlining the use of John Hancock as a term for a signature. This is in keeping with all WP:DAB and WP:MOSDAB guidelines. Tassedethe (talk) 08:20, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Reverend John Hancock

I have recently created Reverend John Hancock to disambiguate at least three clergymen by that name. That page has been proposed as a merge to this page, under the argument it's an incomplete disambiguation. I did it as a separate page because there was no way to group the three on this page without duplication. In one case, the building appears more notable than its namesake. I don't know what the convention is on this, but it seems that Reverend John Hancock merits a separate listing, with a link to this disambiguation page. Jokestress (talk) 19:32, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Reason for merge nomination The convention is not to duplicate info on various dabs. It's a short page, so if Reverend John Hancock brought a user here, they'd have no trouble finding the right link. The issue is that people end up creating many incomplete disambiguations, e.g. John Smith (footballer), John Smith (sports), John Smith (born 1982) etc., and it becomes very difficult to find the information.
