There is some information about a situation occurring at Ignalina NPP in 1983 which was one of the components of the Chernobyl disaster. In particular, control rod insertion precipitating an initial increase in power output due to graphite tips (?) and water/steam displacement. The situation at Ignalina did not go out of control.

Merge proposal

edit

Propose to merge Visaginas nuclear power plant into this article as it actually about the same new plant (units) mentioned in this article. Although, in the internationalmedia this new plant is referred usually as new Ignalina nuclear power plant. There are more search results with new Ignalina NPP than Visaginas NPP. Visaginas nuclear power plant is used only by some Lithuanian sources.Beagel (talk) 09:28, 19 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Name was approved officially.Beagel (talk) 18:14, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Don't merge as those to separate power plants. M.K. (talk) 18:03, 5 January 2010 (UTC) outdated M.K. (talk) 18:27, 5 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
The merger proposal was dismissed already one and half year ago, so I don't understand why the merger tag was restored. The situation has changed significantly since then and the Visaginas NPP project deserves its own article. Beagel (talk) 18:22, 5 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
Opps sorry confused dates :) M.K. (talk) 18:25, 5 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Decommissioned

edit

This article previously described the power plant as "closed." The correct term is "decommissioned" which I have added. SpiritedMichelle (talk) 02:12, 20 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
