Election of Representatives

edit

How are the representatives elected? Are there separate races for each half-district, or do voters cast two votes for their preferred representative? 216.19.188.242 (talk) 06:04, 17 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

This should have had an answer long ago, but I'll answer it for the sake of posterity anyway. I cannot give you a reliable source, so I'm going to ask your indulgence with some basic math from 2000 General elections results. The District 1 Senate seat votes 3,635 + 11,413 + 496 = 15,544; Representative seat 1A votes 9,280 + 5,865 = 15,145; Representative 1B votes 8,153 + 7,093 = 15,246. The numbers for Senate, 1A, and 1B are all proximate enough (around 2.6% different) to show that each voter has the opportunity to vote for each seat in the district. Similar comparisons can be made for any other district and/or year. Dru of Id (talk) 12:10, 16 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
