Overall
edit-Looks good overall, though perhaps you could use Healie's human form to visually illustrate it? It's mentioned a lot, including in Reception, enough to justify the image's inclusion. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 03:47, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
- Added image.
- Additional Source Spotcheck: @Cukie Gherkin.
- I've selected some random sources to check if they verify the info they're cited for.
- 3: Verifies that Healie was controlled using AI.
- 8: Verifies that Healie is in Super Light.
- 10: Verifies that Healie is in Tact.
- 17: Verifies that Healie ranked above Ragnar.
- 19: Verifies cited information. However, I do worry that this source counts as a trivial mention, since it has only one sentence of commentary on Healie in the whole thing, and could likely be removed.
- I think that the strength of the commentary stands out; in addition to finding him cute, saying that he's the best companion in the series and the best part of chapter 1 emphasizes, to me, his popularity. It also helps to further enhance the collective commentary about Healie's role as a support or companion character. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 16:13, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't really see that much in the source, and most of its points are verified and used by other sources. Could you point out to me where it is in the source just in case I missed it? Unrelated, but could you additionally add the romanization of Healie to the article, if it can be verified? Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 23:30, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
- The text I'm referring to: " The highlight of the first chapter is the monster that will become your ally, Hoimin the Hoimi Slime. In the later Dragon Quest series, there are several monsters that you can make friends with and take with you, but Hoimin is the first of them. However, even if you become a friend, it is AI controlled, so it is true that it does not move as you want. At first, it acts safely, but it is somehow brave and cute that it heals Ryan and dies." There's also a caption calling Healie the "hidden protagonist" of the chapter, though I probably wouldn't use that because it's probably just something like "I like this character" - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 15:15, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
- I feel it's viable as an additional source to bolster other sources' points, but I feel there's some undue weight being put onto this brief bit of commentary in the Reception as it stands right now. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 19:20, 16 June 2024 (UTC)
- Tweaked the content and moved it elsewhere. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 17:25, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

... that the character Healie's popularity with players lead to the introduction of monster recruitment in Dragon Quest V, a mechanic that inspired Dragon Quest Monsters?

- Comment: It's a little outside the seven days, but my PC was in the middle of being transferred. I considered an ALT, but I felt that any possible ALT would not be as strong as noting the influence of Healie on the direction of the series.

- The current hook cannot be used as it is 210 characters long, and hooks should only be a maximum of 200 characters and ideally shorter than that. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 09:15, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- I've reduced it down to 200. Is this acceptable? - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 16:48, 28 June 2024 (UTC)
- It's borderline since it's at exactly 200 words, but it might be better for the main reviewer to decide. Given this is your second nomination, the reviewer will probably be lenient about the nomination being slightly late. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 07:43, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
I have had a look at this as second reviewer now. I understand this is your first DYK nomination, so I would also be inclined to be generous. However, there are unfortunately several issues at once here. It was nominated after deadline, and as the previous reviewer pointed out the original hook was too long. It is still long, and winding, and I am sorry to say not very "hooky". I had to read it twice to fully grasp what it was about. The idea of the hook is to be eye-catching, and I think the current hook fails on this criterion as well. IF you can come up with a punchier hook, I'd be happy to take a second look, but otherwise I would suggest we close this nomination. Kind regards, Yakikaki (talk) 19:31, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Cukie Gherkin: Please address the above. Z1720 (talk) 19:53, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, sorry, I did not see this. I've decided to not pursue this DYK due to believing that I cannot make it reasonably more concise or hooky. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 16:17, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
