Force Feedback?
edit"The steering wheel was also the first in arcade gaming history to provide force feedback on car impact."
Wasn't OutRun the first? Released in 1986, the wheel (and, on the standup, the whole cabinet) shook wildly if the player left the road or hit something...
Agreed, Hard Drivin' had continuous force feedback, not just collisions. It was the first to do continuous feedback.Bollinger 09:05, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
people generally don't consider rumble effect to be force feedback, since it's a "canned" effect. the remarkable point is that the force feedback was of such high quality. I could play this game indefinitely (in the race drivin' incarnation; "generally one or two laps" ... ha!) so I played it a lot (and wrecked my shoulder), and I'm astounded by how poorly modern consumer FF wheels fair in comparison Snaxalotl (talk) 13:14, 26 June 2009 (UTC)snaxalotl
Hardware
editI have no source for this, but years ago at Siggraph '89 I saw Analog Devices showing off Hard Drivin'. They explained the game used a Motorola 68000 and Analog Devices ADSP 2100 for all the 3D math. If someone can find some reference for this, it'd be great to get it in. Oh wait. I just found a reference. I'll stick the URL here and maybe work it into the main page later. http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=770&page=1 Bollinger 09:05, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Formatting issue
editHow do i prevent that apostrophe in the name from being interpreted as a WP control character? Attempting to enclose the name of the game in italics causes the following problem: Hard Drivin is a game called Hard Drivin. 2fort5r (talk) 12:11, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
