Malformed prod 2011

{{subst:prod/This article may be plagiarism, it sounds like it. It also is too short to be a Wikipedia article, thus it's called a stub. It might be merged with a longer article on koans, but why bother. Deletion may be the best answer.}} 15:06, 26 May 2011‎ ARRust

Koans & Resources / Cites

edit

The koans sections... aside from being questionably useful in this article (The jp.wikipedia article does not contain them), I'm not sure about the references there. http://www.ashidakim.com provides no sources except as a general group, and links to at least three different pages about management software on the koans page. A book called Software maintenance management : evaluation and continuous improvement in one link, some company called "mapcon" in another... so, as a source, it's more The Zen of SEO Spam. Because of that and the main website's purpose of selling mostly self-published books and videos, I'm removing it from the references. The koans I'll leave for now, I'll try to find sources for those somewhere on the web. So far almost all searches have found self-help / motivational books.

I can't comment on the source for the "are you still carrying her" koan as there is no English translation or online Japanese text available, and the likelihood of getting a Japanese language Buddhist oriented self-help / motivational book through inter-library loan is slim to none.

Finally, the reference to Shinbunkaku Co's website title for 美術人名辞典 (which Google is translating as "Art biographical dictionary") doesn't seem to be there anymore. The references on the Japanese page on Hara Tanzan are potentially more credible (eg [1]). None of the sources here seem like they particularly make sense as good sources for the history in the English version (and I have to base this solely on the type of publication since they're mostly in Japanese online / not automatically translatable):

  • 美術人名辞典 / dead link — Art biographical dictionary
  • デジタル版 日本人名大辞典+Plus — Digital version Japanese name dictionary + Plus
  • 世界大百科事典 第2版 — World Encyclopaedia Second Edition
  • Unlabeled source / dead link. Combing the shop page found it to be 禅学心性実験録/妙智療法秘録 — Zen school cardiac experimental record / Myoji therapy secret / ISBN 978-4-89350-588-0 but does not appear related to Hara Tanzan at first glance. Also, the ISBN doesn't show up in most searches. Description on some pages mention work by a professor at the university of Tokyo, but details are sparse.
  • 松村明. デジタル大辞泉. — Digital Dictionary. by Akira Matsumura

Lots of dictionaries and encyclopedias; I can't evaluate them properly like I said, but it seems rather odd to have no other sources but these. A Shortfall Of Gravitas (talk) 21:15, 12 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Well that's about all I can do here. It would be nice to find some English sources for this page, but that's beyond me right now. Maybe some help from the folks at ja.wiki.x.io / translation of that page would be useful? Auto-translate failed hilariously on parts of it as usual but some of the location / career info seemed a bit different there regardless. Anyone know the translation templates offhand?
