tradition
editIs a tradition that the king borned in Zurich, Swiss, like symbol of fraternité. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.46.178.178 (talk) 20:19, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
There is an interview of the prince by Peter Robinson of Uncommon Knowledge. Asteriks (talk) 23:45, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, and it is currently used as a source in this article to describe some of the Prince's socio-political views. Sugar-Baby-Love (talk) 03:57, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
threats and financial clout
editHere it says the Prince's threatened to move abroad in 2003 if he didn't get more power. Bearing in mind the royal family's bank employs 1500 people, he was quite clearly using his financial clout to blackmail the electorate. At least according to the BBC. This should go in. Malick78 (talk) 08:37, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Aren't the BBC, being a pro-republican newspaper also biased. Is there any mention of this in a Liechtenstein newspapeer? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.135.40.47 (talk) 18:05, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
Photo
editI think the photo should be replaced with a newer one. In this picture the 67 year old Prince looks almost younger than his son, Alois. --E4024 (talk) 11:55, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

Intro sentence is not correct
editIt states Hans-Adam would be "reigning". But he gave all his power to his son Alois in 2004 but maintained Fürst and didn't abdicate. So yes, he's still monarch but he doesn't reign anymore. Since 2004 he's a titular Fürst. --212.186.7.98 (talk) 12:13, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Move discussion in progress
editThere is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Florestan, Prince of Monaco which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 18:17, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
Hans Adam II or his son Alois
editI hope I've cleared things up a bit, concerning who 'currently' has veto power. As regent, that would Alois. Of course Hans Adam II can easily dismiss his son as regent, resume his royal powers & duties. GoodDay (talk) 03:47, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
Requested move 11 October 2022
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: no consensus. It's clear that an RFC is needed to settle the issue on when numbered royals/nobles may have their "of Y" qualifiers removed. (closed by non-admin page mover) — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 17:10, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
Hans-Adam II, Prince of Liechtenstein → Hans-Adam II – This article is the primary topic, I see no need for the disambiguation in the title. Juan Carlos I, Felipe VI and Charles III are also examples. Elme12 (talk) 00:26, 11 October 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 22:37, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose for consistency with the articles listed at List of monarchs of Liechtenstein, and more importantly per WP:NCROY:
European monarchs whose rank is below that of king (e.g., grand dukes, electors, dukes, princes), should be at the location "{Monarch's first name and ordinal}, {Title} of {Country}". Examples: Maximilian I, Elector of Bavaria, Jean, Grand Duke of Luxembourg.
See also Talk:Florestan, Prince of Monaco#Requested move 12 September 2020. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 06:04, 18 October 2022 (UTC) - Support. Per WP:CONCISE, which, as part of Wikipedia's overarching WP:Article titles guideline, overrides WP:NCROY on this matter: article titles should not be longer than they need to be and should not contain disambiguation when no disambiguation is needed. In other words, there is no reason for this article to be titled Hans-Adam II, Prince of Liechtenstein when Hans-Adam II does just fine. Similarly, we have the concise James Monroe rather than the wordy James Monroe, President of the United States. Other examples of concise and precise titles of articles about monarchs include Carl XVI Gustaf, Gustaf V, etc; Maria Theresa; Elizabeth II, George VI, etc. Obviously, other articles about Liechtenstein princes should be moved to more concise titles as well. Surtsicna (talk) 06:25, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose - We should keep all the Liechtensteiner monarch bio titles consistent, with the Name #, Prince/Princess of Liechtenstein form. GoodDay (talk) 09:26, 18 October 2022 (UTC)
- Support per WP:CONCISE. No disambiguation in the title is necessary here. Rreagan007 (talk) 18:22, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
- Relisting comment: Can WP:CONCISE override WP:NCROY? If this RM fails to find consensus on this question, an RFC on this matter is warranted. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 22:37, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:RECOGNIZABLE, WP:CONSISTENCY (here's some policy links for you), WP:NCROY, and my comments at Talk:Florestan, Prince of Monaco#Requested move 12 September 2020. Not that "concise" shit again please. No such user (talk) 12:01, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- Support. WP:RECOGNIZABILITY means only that
the title is a name or description of the subject that someone familiar with, although not necessarily an expert in, the subject area will recognize
. The article title Hans-Adam II satisfies this criterion, no differently from how Surtsicna's example of James Monroe satisfies this criterion. Adding more description to the title is unnecessary disambiguation (WP:PRECISION). There is no other topic named Hans-Adam II. In addition, Hans-Adam is not a name shared by any other monarchy. This is in contrast to the phenomenon of names being widely shared between countries, like John, Philip, Charles, William, etc., which make up the bulk of WP:NCROY cases for monarchs, and which are a central part of the justification for why a WP:NCROY guideline is needed in the first place. Lastly, nothing in this discussion is about anything "overriding" anything else; it's a normal application of criteria and guidelines, which in discussions require individualized consideration as always. Adumbrativus (talk) 04:07, 30 October 2022 (UTC)- Well, PRECISE also notes that
Exceptions to the precision criterion may sometimes result from the application of some other naming criteria
, with NCROY given as an example. I'm actually not too fond of overprecise titles myself, but I see it as an issue that generally needs to be worked out at the global-consensus level rather than in individual RMs. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 07:42, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
- Well, PRECISE also notes that
