The titled is missing the letter n in Gauntlet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.125.5.24 (talk) 01:27, 16 June 2004 (UTC)Reply

This has been corrected long ago. Link 19:21, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Talking about the Talk

edit

This is very unencyclopedaic (sp?) and uses excessively informal or incorrect language, specifically:

  • "The simplicity of the original Gauntlet series is still here: You have to find your way out of a maze"
  • "In your way are hordes and hordes"
  • "generators painfully spread around the gigantic, menacing levels."
  • "It was a role-playing game, though with very limited role-playing."

Also, it needs to be significantly expanded. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.111.77.10 (talk) 05:55, 15 May 2006 (UTC) I've tried to fix it. Link 19:21, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

For Virtual Console?

Will Gauntlet Legends be available for Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console? Link 19:21, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Runestones: Twelve or Thirteen

edit

First, I've never played Gauntlet Legends, only the expanded game, Dark Legacy.

Gauntlet: Dark Legacy has 13 Runestones. However, other sources I've checked indicate that Gauntlet Legends only has 12 Runestones.

This this appears to be a point of contention (it's been changed in the article several times), it would be nice to have this settled once and for all.

Now, the question is: How many runestones does Gauntlet Legends actually have? --Powerlord 12:11, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

It did have 13 Runestones. 3 in each of the first 4 levels, and the 13th was in the last level. --Linktriforce007

Right...as I recall from pumping FAR too many quarters into the arcade version, the first twelve get you to the Desecrated Temple, and then the first encounter with Skorne. Beating him the first time gets you the 13th runestone, which allows you to follow him into the Underworld and do the final boss fight (after beating up several infernal minions). Don't know about the console ports, I've never played any of them. -- Pennyforth (talk) 04:38, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, you entered the Desecrated Temple by getting the four boss shards to repair the window. The Rune Stones have nothing to do with that. The rune stones are merely for the purpose of entering the final level, and you can't get the 13th until after unlocking the battlefield, which is accomplished by defeating Skorne the first time. After getting the 13th, you can enter the underworld and kill Skorne forever. --Linktriforce007 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.135.220.17 (talk) 23:01, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Saving

edit

Actually the arcade versions save your name to the harddisk with you stats and can only be used if you enter your 3-digit pin. You can use MAME to verify. After creating a character, the harddisk will be modified and saved to a .dif file, delete it and you lose your user 86.153.98.89 (talk) 01:17, 16 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Video Game Genre: Hack and Slash?

edit

Either "hack and slash" is an incredibly vague game genre or this game really isn't one. It certainly isn't focused on melee combat as the linked genre article would have you believe. Just what is the best way to categorize the Gauntlet series? I've always thought of it as a unique type of action RPG personally. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.45.181.198 (talk) 00:58, 25 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Licensing

edit

I only care about one thing when it comes to this page. I want to know who owns the rights to the game to make another. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.13.110.202 (talk) 08:48, 5 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

N64 memory slot

edit

I seem to remember a version of the arcade game with the Nintendo 64 card slot so people could continue their game from home. Does anyone else remember this or have more info? I've seen a few discussions about it online but none that have been confirmed yet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.143.251.13 (talk) 04:38, 16 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

The "Gameplay" section

edit

...seems more like a "story" section as it doesn't seem to deal with "gameplay" at all... Either strike the section completely, rename it, or rewrite it. 50.45.233.14 (talk) 08:08, 12 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
