Famous Alumni
editHow do people decide who gets included on the list of famous alum? Obviously Arthur Miller and Lawrence Kasdan belong there, but El Senor Gweepay? What has he done since leaving Michigan for DC? Actually, I heard a rumor that he had a fatal coronary several years ago. But who can tell these days, really. He sure did eat a lot of White Castle. Mmmmmm, White Castle. Anyway, my point is, why are there no White Castles in DC? Arguably, if therer were going to be White Castles anywhere in America, you would only assume that they would be in the Nation's Capital -- ie near the White House -- ie the White Castle. See what I mean? I remember once Gweepay and I headed to White Castle in the middle of the night, we did, and something terrible happened! At least, I think something terrible happened. You see, I can't remember much ever since that freak laser pointer accident of 2003. They tell you never to shine it in other peoples' eyes, but the warning labels don't say anything about not shining it in your OWN eyes, so I figured I was okay, right? Except I wasn't okay! The next thing I know, I think I'm dying, I think I'm seeing the bright red light at the end of the tunnel -- and before I can say, "Holy Moses I'm comin' to join you!" I wake up in a pool of my own vomit near the outer benches of Dupont Circle. Since then, I've made a lot of friends there in Dupont, mostly people like me who had bad experiences with lasers or pointers, or laser pointers, or sometimes alcohol. Anyway, why the hell is Gweepay listed as a famous alum? Ztrawhcs 17:55, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Sources and deleting information
editI found this article reduced to two sentences and have reverted it. If you are concerned about the lack of sources, you may do your own research or bring it up on the talk page, mark sections that are uncited, etc. Please do not remove the entirety of an article unless it's obviously false or the work of vandals. Most of the info is freely available from issues of Gargoyle (i.e. verification of the bombs' existence in photo form) or from the Gargoyle book, Gargoyle Laughs at the 20th Century. Thank you. I may also re-add some of the info from "Famous Alumni" that is immediately verifiable. Again, that information is available in the book. It didn't occur to me to explicitly cite it but now I will. -- Krishva 22:51, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- I am glad to see that you are interested in preserving this article, and it's great that there finally is a source for the article. However, individual claims need to be sourced. See WP:CITE for details. It will help to have the page numbers for these items so that we can see which page to find the information on. The {{cite book}} has space for page numbers. I am available to help you with any of this. I don't have anything against the article; I am cleaning out the college humor category, and I had four other articles deleted today for the same problems this article has had. On the other hand, an editor worked with me on another article a month or so ago, and the article is actually very good, mainly through his efforts to improve it.--Chris Griswold (☎☓) 00:10, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- All right. I probably won't have an opportunity to go through the book for about a week or so due to academic commitments, but after that I will get citing. I'm not sure how available the book is in libraries (it seems to be unavailable on Amazon now), but depending on where you are, you may be able to find a copy to peruse if you would like to check on these things sooner. --Krishva 05:04, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
