Night Owl
editWhew; After making my 'ORB' game using game maker, I'd tried to have it distributed through Night Owl; there was a number on one of the discs I'd had from them which I called only to get some NYU student's room. Suffice it to say, the person on the other end of the line had no idea what I was talking about (and sounded more than a bit drunk at the time.) Jeturcotte (talk) 13:40, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
- Ha! Others have had similar problems. cly5m talks about his frustrations on autofish.net. I think the problems were all with the earlier Night Owl BBS, as compared with Frontline. I regularly dialed up the latter, which -- as it was an in-state long-distance number -- got me in no small trouble with my parents. Still, it was neat to have a place to trade games! --Aderack (talk) 06:39, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Further development
editIt will be nice to include a "community" or "community development" section, which will cover everything from the BBS and mailings to stuff like Sylvain Martin's breakdown of the file formats and subsequent Perl scripts.
Likewise, a "history" section is a priority once that Andy Stone interview gets published so that we have something definite to cite.
Any other suggestions for topics or headers? Maybe some discussion about the original, rather restrictive, license agreement and how it contrasts with Andy's OSS philosophy -- and even with the collaborative mindset hinted at in RSD's advertisements?
