Concept, not program
editThere may have been some confusion here. "Fusion pilot plant" is the name of a proposed facility or class of facilities to demonstrate the commercializability of fusion energy, not the name of a specific US DOE program or report. I propose that this article be substantially revised to reflect that "FPP" refers to a prospective facility, not a specific governmental program.
I wrote a new article, Milestone-Based Fusion Development Program, specifically addressing the development program that is referred-to in this FPP article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cswancmu (talk • contribs) 12:59, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
- We should merge this article into Milestone-Based Fusion Development Program then, right? This article doesn't have any information about fusion pilot plants in general, so any non-duplicate content should be copied into that article, and this one should be deleted or redirected to Fusion power. - I copied some details about the Milestone-Based Fusion Development Program to that article. There are also some sentences about General Atomic's proposed FPP and General Fusion's contract to study tritium breeding for it; I'm not sure where to put those but I also am skeptical that they're notable enough that they need to be put anywhere (just because GA has proposed an FPP design doesn't mean they're going to build it). Does anyone here intend to revise this page to be about FPPs in general? @Bri, @Cswancmu? If not I plan to change it to a redirect to Fusion power. Justin Kunimune (talk) 14:45, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- I went ahead and made the change. I suppose we can leave this talk page here in case someone decides to write an article about fusion pilot plants. Justin Kunimune (talk) 18:42, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
