Frog/Glenn, Marle's ancestor?
editWhile playing Chrono Trigger, I got the feeling that Glenn and the Queen were having some sort of affair. Now this is mostly speculation, but is there any in-game proof (or allusions) to him being Princess Nadia/Marle's true ancestor? Or at the very least, to some sort of affair? --156.34.65.74 19:32, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- It seems highly unlikely. Glenn was far too loyal to the King to do something like that. I know what you mean, I had similar thoughts, but in the end I interpreted them as intense loyalty.Retlor 17:10, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Plus, isn't there an alternate ending where we see what would happen IF Frog and Queen Leene ever got together? Something about defeating Lavos immediately after returning from the Dark Ages and circumventing the whole Masamune/Magus scenario. By 1000AD everyone in the royal family was hopping around and croaking thanks to their ancestors' little inter-species fling. I think the designers wanted to present it as a possibility, but not as a normal circumstance to the story. This is all from the English version, though; I don't know if any dialog snippets were cut during translation or anything. Nall 21:21, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Hm, yes, I suppose he was far too loyal. But I am reminded somewhat of Lancelot and Queen Guenevere, at least, their tale in the film "First Knight", where a loyal Sir Lancelot and equally loyal Queen Guenevere engage in an affair. However, setting that aside, I presume you're both right, and that Glenn is nothing more than a loyal soldier to the Kingdom.
In a slightly related topic of lineage, and while this may not be the place... it was revealed that Ayla was Marle/Nadia's ancestor though, correct? Whereas Glenn was speculation based on observation, I seem to remember the Ayla bit being an actual fact. --156.34.67.162 22:04, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- There is an ending, I think it's the one you get without using "New Game +" and therefore the first one anyone really sees, where we learn that Ayla and Kino are Marle's very distant ancestors. We also see that the old man from 2300 A.D. is Marle's descendant as well. ALSO, Thanks to the new ending sequence in the Final Fantasy Chronicles remake, it's made clear that Marle and Chrono are married, so it's very likely that the old man is descended from Chrono, too.
Her ancestry probably looks something like this:
Ayla-------Kino | ~ (65,000,600 years later) ~ | King Guardia------Queen Leene | ~ (400 years later) ~ | King Guardia XIV--------------Marle's Mom (not seen) Chrono's Mom-------Chrono's Dad (not seen) | | Marle-------------------------------------------------Chrono | ~ (1,300 years later) ~ | Old Man
It's been years since I've played it but I think this is what the game text would have us believe.
Oh, and this topic may be against formal wiki-talk guidelines, but I guess we shouldn't worried. The way the winds are blowing these days this article'll be merged with the Chrono Trigger character list eventually, and this talk page will be tossed out anyway =3. Nall 02:05, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
GrandLeon
editI only played the American version of the game but once I read the Wiki article and heard about the GrandLeon being the the name of the MasaMune i couldn't help thinking of Star Fox 64 when that lizard would say "Annoying bird, I am the Great Leon". I was wondering if there was any connection between the 2 even though they're a little different and he's a cameleon where as Glenn was a Frog but some things might have gotten lost in translation from the Japanese version, any thoughts?. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lucasthalefty (talk • contribs) 00:26, 8 April 2007 (UTC).
