Untitled Comment 1

The game in the surface world is named transCendenZ. The world itself does not differ much from deeper levels, so it's pretty obvious it was meant to be just another level of virtual reality. I admit one cannot be sure though :-). This is very dickish indeed. --matusz 10:39, 20 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Original Research

edit

Gonna be bold and whack some original research off the main page; the original author (or later editor) seems to have wandered into interpreting the movie based on personal opinion, rather than summarizing the plot or presenting verifiable, referenced interpretations. --MattShepherd 14:04, 29 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

B-class

edit

I've done a bit of work to this article and comparing to other articles of start class, and b-class, I think it is a b-class article now. --Spazm 14:41, 18 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree with you that the article is slightly more B-Class than Start. However, it should be better, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Style guidelines for ideas on how to bring it up. Also, for future reference, the class= field is case-sensitive, so please capitialize when filling it in. Cbrown1023 20:23, 18 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
ok thanks I never changed the class field before. I looked over the style guidelines and made a few changes. I will try to edit it more if i can. Spazm 15:31, 22 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Pardon mon butting in, but is anybody going to mention that Pikul's name is surely a reference to PiHKAL (q.v.)? --Cdavis999 10:57, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Heh. Gotta ref? —Viriditas | Talk 11:05, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
It seems reasonable that Pikul is a reference to PiHKAL, but the only thing i can find about it is a post on a mesg board, [1] with is hardly a reference we can use. Maybe you can find a better one? Spazm 16:32, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, folks. I don't have a ref. It was just something that struck me when I first saw the film - as it did, apparently, the guy on the Msg board. I assumed, in fact, that Ted's surname was spelled that way.
Perhaps the only thing that can be done with this tiny quantum of gossip is a one-liner like "Ted Pikul's name may be a reference to etc. etc". Not sure where it might go, though - if at all. --Cdavis999 23:13, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
If it's true, we should be able to find more information about it. Have you checked any of the interviews with Cronenberg? That's a good place to start. I'll gladly help you look through the search indexes. There's a lot of really obscure (but notable) academic film journals that may have discussed this. You've done a great job bringing this to the attention of the active editors. —Viriditas | Talk 23:25, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

This may not be the place, but thank you for your dedication. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.114.176.50 (talk) 05:15, 30 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Karl Jasper and Existenz

edit

______Why no mention of Karl Jasper and his concept of Existenz? I find it interesting that there is no connection according to wiki and imdb, but clearly they raise similar philosophical issues. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.4.229.114 (talk) 00:09, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I thought the link was already there but it wasnt, so i added a link to Existentialism Spazm 12:14, 1 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I concur with this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.114.176.50 (talk) 04:58, 30 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dickish by any means

edit

No opportunity to mention the "Perky Pat"-cornflakes box in the article. It DEFINITELY is a reference to Dick. 195.46.247.21 (talk) 17:44, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Bizarre

edit

If anyone can justify what an arbitrary reference to a Landrover has anything to do with the substance of the plot or production of this film, please feel free to explain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.111.243.7 (talk) 06:14, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

"isten pun"

edit

Wouldn't it be a pun if the word "existenz" really existed in the english language? (it was an english language movie right?) It sounds more like a sleep medication or some crap like that. Wouldn't it be a great puns to come out with movies called AQgodV, JQbuddahL or IWAllahU? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.185.6.18 (talk) 02:09, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Existenz" is German for "existance". --217.238.132.200 (talk) 15:08, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

And the way they try to make "isten" stand out sort of does make it a pun. Ok maybe pun isn't the right word but its some kind of play on words, you see what i mean. 174.42.206.246 (talk) 14:42, 18 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

It would be funny if it went even deeper and it was jokingly "God between (e)X and Z" aka Y(ahweh). In any case, it's certainly an interesting thought in my opinion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.216.46.175 (talk) 21:45, 26 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

you might be on to something — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.191.5.155 (talk) 06:16, 30 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Opening

edit

The second paragraph in the opening section, first of all, contains some unusual and out-of-place analysis of the movie. And also, the second sentence is a sentence fragment. Can someone working with this page please stylistically fix that and at least fix the sentence fragment? 2601:601:D01:7740:1876:8F83:F36:2730 (talk) 00:59, 2 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

EXistenZExistenzRelisted. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:11, 14 August 2011 (UTC) Stylization, the proper spelling is "Existenz" (German for "existence"). BTW, why is the page move-protected? There was only one move once that was reverted (without any clear reason) and then a protection. --The Evil IP address (talk) 19:56, 7 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Plot synopsis cleanup

edit

I have edited down the plot section by about 300 words (it is now 764 words long). Is that enough to address the maintenance template, or should it be reduced further? 72.141.71.117 (talk) 01:29, 10 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
