Merging
editThese two need to be merged. Same chracter, similar info. I helped create one of the articles, and I think it's time. All in favor?

Wrong
editI've just read the book and most of this is completely wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.109.117.70 (talk) 06:59, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Some sentences were random trivia and otehrs did not truly reflect the real portrayal of her in the book, so they needed to be fixed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yaminoeyes (talk • contribs) 02:12, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Dahl-ya?
editWhy Djali should be pronounced as Dahl-ya? In Franch in should be pronounced as jally or in similar way, but never as dahl-ya. --212.71.176.82 (talk) 19:47, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
Inappropriate
editThe description of the sex scene between Phoebus and Esmeralda is an absolute joke. Who wrote this?! I mean with sentences like: "Then, he moves back and begins to finger her "delicate" parts it makes you think it's been written by a complete moron. I think I will clean it up a bit. Nothingbutmeat (talk) 13:16, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Invented adaptations
editA very persistent user is continuously adding in two fake film adaptations, and no matter how many times I attempt to edit them out said user edits them back in. The 2005 and 2009 adaptations are non-existent, and if anyone could possibly prevent these from being added in again it would be great, because trying to constantly fix the facts is a major nuisance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Going fortheone (talk • contribs) 01:24, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
Capitalizing Gypsy
editGypsy is a disparaging term when it's not capitalized. If no one has any arguments, I'm going to go and capitalize it in the article. Sailorknightwing (talk) 04:17, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Its a racist slur capitalized or not. It's a disgusting racist term. We are Roma, or Romani. Keikz (talk) 20:23, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
Gypsy?
editI think the "Fictional Gypsy" category should be removed from this article, given that Esmeralda is NOT genetically Roma. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.171.114.43 (talk) 02:35, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
The words gypsy needs to be removed completely. They racist slurs. Keikz (talk) 20:20, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

The portion about the Disney adaption of the film should include the fact that Phoebus, portrayed as a hero, is the man that Esmeralda chooses.

Please add Ciara Renée to the list of actresses who have portrayed Esmeralda for her performance in the La Jolla and Paper Mill Playhouses' musical version The Hunchback of Notre Dame (musical) under "Adaptations." Sisterguduleslambofgod (talk) 00:42, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

"gypsy" is a racist slur
editYou wouldn't use the n word to apply to African American people, so why is this slur used again the Romani? Please remove all racist slurs from this page. Its disgusting that nearly 1000 years of persecution and we are still being opressed and treated poorly. Keikz (talk) 20:22, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

In the final paragrapgh under character history it says "dangling from the scaffold", whereas the correct link should be "Scaffold (execution site)". 194.28.127.52 (talk) 02:38, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

On the nationality part of the infobox, it should say French Romani instead of "French (Romani in subsequent adaptations)." The narrator and even her mother continue to call her a Gypsy after her heritage is revealed. The Duke of Egypt, Esmeralda's legal guardian who considers her part of his tribe, also is mentioned by Gringoire, to to helping Agnes find her mother, so its clear in the novel she is considered Romani by adoption and thus "french romani" is the best description.
