First Paragraph

edit

The first paragraph doesn't emphasize that he's predominantly a classical singer and is written like an advertisement. Needs rewrite. John Holly 06:13, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Partenope

I believe the production of Partenope listed was originally produced by Glimmerglass Opera rather than the Lyric Morydd (talk) 16:22, 19 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Removal of sexual assault allegations

edit

Cited articles about sexual assault allegations and subsequent dismissal have been removed. WP:CENSOR seems to imply that these should be restored. Plandu (talk) 21:27, 6 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Reviving this thread some years later. The allegations have led to serious career repercussions for Daniels. I have pared them down to a mere mention of the allegations, since they are as yet unproven, listed only to indicate the effect they have had on his career. Extensive content of "Sexual allegations" section

edit

DSDWB2020 has expanded the Sexual assault allegations section of this article (here, here and here and again reverted to their preferred content here), to included details such as the names of Daniels' accusers and an extensive defense of Daniels regarding these allegations. Since Wikipedia is not a place to litigate cases that are otherwise as yet unsettled by the courts, and since WP:BLP requires that we assume a right of privacy of people who are not the actual subjects of our articles, I believe that this amount of detail is inappropriate. Since these allegations have had a significant impact on Daniels' career, I believe that it is appropriate to mention them, but I believe that we should rely on what reliable sources have said on the matter and not attempt to litigate the matter here by introducing court documents (which are primary sources). I believe further that, since DSDWB2020 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) has not contributed to any other area of Wikipedia, that he may have an undeclared conflict of interest regarding this case. I invite DSDWB2020, and any other parties, to comment regarding these edits. I will be posting a link to this discussion at the Biographies of Living Persons Noticeboard, since I believe that the inclusion of the accusers' names in this article violates our WP:BLP policies. WikiDan61, I've removed the original research (eg. mentioning that the claimants weren't students of Daniels) and BLP violations (the names of people who aren't the subject of the article). Does the new state look reasonable to you? Gbear605 (talk) 16:57, 16 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Gbear605: I had actually pared down the section further (see this version), noting only the charges, Daniels' denial, and the consequences of the charges, without going into further details since the charges had not yet been litigated. But I'm better with your version than with DSDWB2020's. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:39, 17 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Possible (serious) factual error; definite error in summarizing the content of a reference/source

edit

Good evening, fellow Wiki editors!

This article states:

"On January 29, 2019, Daniels and his husband were arrested in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and were extradited to Texas based on the allegations.[ref]"

HOWEVER, the actual source cited - a news article from January 2019 (link below) only states that they were arrested and that they were facing extradition to Texas, and that they were "... lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail pending extradition to Texas" (My emphasis -- HMT). In a published statement from March 2019 their lawyer states that they were never actually extradited to Texas; rather, they willingly traveled, at their own expense, to Texas, in order to answer charges in court there.

Now, I don't claim to know which version of the story is true - I don't know whether they were extradited or whether they went willingly in order to avoid being extradited. That is why I'm not gonna modify the article at this time, (except for inserting a tag and/or a flag). But someone should look into this, because traveling to appear in court at ones own expense, even if it is done in order to avoid extradition, is very different from actually being extradited.

Here are the two sources: the one already included as the reference, which says that they are facing extradition and that extradition is pending, and which the wiki article erroneously characterizes as saying that they have been extradited:

https://www.mlive.com/news/2019/01/university-of-michigan-opera-professor-husband-charged-with-sexual-assault-in-texas.html

And, their statement through their lawyer saying that they went willingly to Texas and were not actually extradited.

Good luck sorting it all out!
