There are a number of spoofs in the game. At one time, Eona comments on how boring hiding in an asteroid field was (poking at star wars). Also, there are a number of star trek spoofs including "WE ARE NOMAD, PREPARE TO BE ASSIMILATED", as a spoof of both the Borg and a certain episode of TOS. Contralya 00:36, 5 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is it just me or does this page read like an advertisement? CthulhuRlyeh (Also Known as Lord Awesome) (talk) 04:06, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree, it seems to be pretty much an ad.

Agree. Totally an ad. Generaly wikipedia articles on games have a section called "reception" where the general gist of the reviews, or the consensus is told. Not to be seen here... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.132.161.145 (talk) 19:01, 23 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Also, there is one point where Eona comments on how she read something in the Encyclopedia Galactica, in a reference to the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.171.222.46 (talk) 23:48, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Robert?

edit

In the beginning of the storyline, Robert gives Kayron the Darkstar One some time after his father's actual death. He tells him to train with the Darkstar One alongside Arin, a friend of Robert, hence the tutorial. After the training, Robert tells Kayron about the real reason behind his father's death.

Sounds as though Robert's quite important, story-wise. Unfortunately, unless I missed it, the article doesn't say who he actually is, or why he has the DarkStar One, or how he knows about Kayron's father's death.

If we insist on having the entire storyline related in detail, this detail needs to be included... - Aculeo (talk) 07:51, 27 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Category should be changed

edit

When I bought this game to play it, I had looked forward to the commerce/trading features...but when it came time to play, they just weren't there.

I would catalog this game as a space combat simulator, not trading game.

Unless I *completely* missed something! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.148.100.254 (talk) 19:26, 1 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello,

I have just revamped the entire "Storyline", "setting" and "Gameplay" sections so that they say a little bit more about some of the issues others have mentioned above -- who Robert is, for example. However I have not been able to find many verifiable sources for my information besides the game's manual, online walkthroughs and the game itself (the walkthroughs I didn't link to, because they're not going to say much different from my own experience of playing the game!). There was a sizeable portion of those sections that were incorrect -- the tip of the S'kaa mothership at the end is not destroyed halfway through the portal, either by Kayron or by anyone else; and when finding Jack Forrester, he doesn't just jump to a system to show them the S'kaa mothership, a lot more happens afterwards!

Therefore, I have added the note at the start of the section explaining that it contains spoilers and that its sources are primarily from gameplay and from the game manual (with a link to the PC version of it, hosted on Steam), but it should be noted that the lack of verifiable sources is still something that needs attention. Have a read through and see what you think - hopefully you'll find it more informative than before. :)

Also, I wonder if anyone can find any reviews that mention the voice-acting? I haven't been able to do a very extensive sweep, but I found it pretty poor at times... Eona's actress even makes a mistake during the mission "the Mandroids", saying: "I hope that this was the last mercenary squ--- nuh, again..." !
