Stabat Mater
editCan I add the fact that the piece of art is a Stabat Mater without any reference ? Thank you !--MNLG kingsun (talk) 21:12, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- Sure, and will see if it can be referenced; but if it doesn't hold up will remove again after a week or two. Ceoil (talk) 21:21, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- I've been looking for reference proving it but haven't found any. Too bad. :) --MNLG kingsun (talk) 23:25, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- Do you want to say here on the talk what you intended, and we can then assess. Ceoil (talk) 23:29, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- I failed to find any reference saying that this painting is a stabat mater (which I'm sure is, I think you might agree with me). Therefore, I'm not sure I want to put any fact without any reference... What do you think I should do ? Thanks for your time ! --MNLG kingsun (talk) 05:47, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- "Crucifixion with the Virgin and St John" was the standard depiction and name. I wouldn't call it a Stabat Mater so long as John is there, myself. You should be able to work a link in though. Johnbod (talk) 10:53, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- Mea Culpa ! I thought the Stabat Mater was a "genre" of painting when in fact it's the name of a specific piece of art... Sorry for my lack of knowledge and thanks for the help. However, as you said, we could maybe say somewhere that the painting has the characteristics of a stabat mater ?--MNLG kingsun (talk) 18:36, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
- Strictly it's neither of those - it's a subject in visual art, like Virgin and Child etc. And so the title of a number of different individual works. Johnbod (talk) 19:26, 10 April 2020 (UTC)

- A simple statement that she is standing as per a Stabat Mater, seems fine to me. Ceoil (talk) 20:47, 11 April 2020 (UTC)
