"She became president of its youth committee", "in November 1945 became a member of the House of Representatives for the VDB" Elected or appointed? (The lead has the same issue). The article definitely overuses "became" when you could be more specific about how the position was obtained.
I agree. Where I could I changed it to use appointed or elected.
