The result of the move request was: Moved somewhere (and most importantly, out of the WP:RM backlog). I'll pick up Cologne in German colonial empire. No such user (talk) 10:31, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
Colonial history of the city of Cologne → Colonial history of Cologne – More concise title. It is obvious that Cologne is a city, so "the city of" is redundant. JIP | Talk 20:59, 19 May 2021 (UTC) —Relisting. (t · c) buidhe 06:20, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose both the current title and the proposed. Since the city began as a Roman colonia and in fact got its name that way, the title is ambiguous with Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium. I proposed this page be moved to Colonialism in Cologne. Srnec (talk) 02:41, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
- Comment it's not immediately obvious that the new title isn't referring to the Electorate of Cologne. Yes, the article is about post-1850 history, but in the United States the "colonial" period is thought of as being in the 1700s. I have no great suggestions, but will throw out German colonialism and Cologne or Cologne during the Scramble for Africa as options. User:力 (power~enwiki, π, ν) 18:47, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
- @JIP, Rreagan007, and Rublov: What do you think about the alternate options proposed above? (t · c) buidhe 06:20, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- I still support the original proposal as a strict improvement over the current title, but I see how neither is especially ideal. I would support either of power~enwiki's proposed titles, although perhaps there is an even better option that we haven't thought of yet. Rublov (talk) 10:52, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- Rename to Cologne in the German colonial empire or similar. "Colonial history" doesn't really make a lot of sense, as it implies Cologne was itself a colony. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:08, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- Agree. The parent article is German colonial empire. German colonial empire#Scramble for colonies in particular. Surprisingly, the interplay between Cologne and German imperialism is mentioned neither at Cologne nor German colonial empire. Looking to the sources, I do not see a good source defining this topic. The German Wikipedia article appears to have exactly the same problem. There is something not quite right about this article, its focus and scope, and I am not seeing an obvious solution. - User:No such user, thanks for closing, but “Cologne in German colonial empire”? You’re not Russian are you? I can’t find an explanation in English articles but it definitely reads wrong. “Cologne in Germany” works, but it would be “Cologne in the German Empire” etc. I’m sure someone knows for sure. I’d ask User:Dicklyon. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 11:52, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- Fair enough, SmokeyJoe; I hesitated between two similar titles and, as it happens, ended up with a mishmash. Cologne in the German colonial empire has been actually proposed by Necrothesp so I'm moving it there. No such user (talk) 12:50, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
