Political stance: liberal-conservative

edit

The term "liberal-conservative" might cause some confusion among English speaking, especially US-American readers, since for them "liberal" and "conservative" are like central political opposites. Here, the term was obviously coined by Germans, and in Germany "liberal" can mean anything from left-wing liberal, civil rights oriented, classically liberal, neo-liberal, class-conscious bourgeois, employer friendly, simply being rich, to libertarian and right-wing-libertarian. "Conservative" on the other side can mean anything from reactionist, bourgeois, petty-bourgeois, to political realist or even carefully progressive. "Liberal-conservative" then might mean something like bourgeois political realism that chooses personal freedom over collectivism and/or solidarity, is not too excited about utopian ideas and knows the value of both wealth and power. English authors might even know a term which can describe this more adequately than "liberal-conservative"? Anyone? - --JakobvS (talk) 10:23, 16 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

The article is unbalanced

edit

The magazine, for example, presents itself as liberal-conservative, although it has been repeatedly criticised as racist and right-wing authoritarian and, for example, as correctly documented in the article, has named Putin as man of the year. Aberlin2 (talk) 18:41, 6 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Then what do you suggest? Because just putting a tag isn't helpful, so what is your suggestion? The page gives both sides and doesn't push any specific view about the title. --Egeymi (talk) 19:11, 6 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Time Magazine has also named Putin man of the year, they've also named Obama, Hitler, Trump, etc. It is obviously not relevant to the description. pipatron (talk) 21:00, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
