Rumoured housemates
editFor this and all previous celebrity big brothers, can we list all rumored celebrites who were suggested to take part in the show? (such as Anna Nicole Smith the year before she died) Also how much were the selected celebrities paid to participate on their selected series?
I disagree, Wikipedia is not a rumor mill. That sort of thing is unecessary.--Hiltonhampton (talk) 18:43, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- I think it should be listed, for a precedent, take I'm A Celebrity.... this year, and I believe Dancing On Ice may also have had a similar list (not sure if it does right now). So my vote goes to yes, list them. Sky83 (talk) 15:18, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- Most of the time, this shouldn't be necessary. There could possibly be a mention if a person's application was maybe particularly notable or controversial in some way. If this sort of information is added, it must cite a highly reputable, reliable source. You can't just list all the names you've seen mentioned around the internet as possible housemates. Tra (Talk) 00:06, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, there must be a limit, but listing all the names that were mentioned was EXACTLY what happened with I'm A Celebrity.... and although I agree that should've been reined in a little, I think it's perfectly acceptable to list people (with a reference, although I don't think there were references listed with IAC) who have been mentioned in multiple places. Such as Verne Troyer, Mutya Buena and Cliff Richard, to name only three. Sky83 (talk) 13:19, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- Good references are the most important consideration when listing people. The problem is that quite a few of the sources available are only able to make vague statements (e.g. X is interested in participating; producers are targeting X; X could take part etc). This makes it very difficult for us to make any concrete statements. Have a look here at the paragraph starting with "Avoid repeating gossip". I think it's best to stick to mentioning people where there is solid evidence that they will be involved. Tra (Talk) 16:48, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

As with many other celebrity reality series in the UK, the media, particularly the red-top tabloids, frequently falsely name celebrities as definitely taking part in a show taking place in the near future. They often claim that they have (seen) the secret list of contestants, or have been told by people close to the celebs concerned. In reality, they are telling lies in order to sell more copies of their papers. If the celebs have not been officially confirmed as appearing, then they should not be mentioned on an encylopedia. The idea that rumours / lies / false info should be added if multiple sources have reported it is ridiculous. There are many lowbrow media sources in the UK that often report untruths as though they are facts, and when it is reported in one place, others will copy it, and try to outdo their competitors by adding some extra names as well. F W Nietzsche (talk) 22:25, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
I am shocked and appalled to read that the press sometimes make stuff up. Have they never heard of being encyclopaedic? Anyway, the consensus among the cognscenti is that the following will appear -
Verne Troyer - Mini Me from Austin Powers
La Toya Jackson - Sister of Michael Jackson
Ulrika Jonsson - Went out with Sven-Göran Eriksson, did some TV presenting
Ben Adams - Singer from Anglo-Norwegian boy band A1
Mutya Buena - Singer from Sugababes
Tommy Sheridan - former Member of the Scottish Parliament, presently on bail awaiting trial on perjury charges
Tina Malone - Plays Mimi Maguire on Shameless
Coolio - American rapper and actor
Terry Christian - British radio and TV presenter
Michelle Heaton - Singer in Liberty X —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.69.231.75 (talk) 04:28, 30 December 2008 (UTC) 79.69.151.53 (talk) 23:17, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
WikiProject Big Brother revamp
editSince a lot of editors will be here I thought I might post this here as well. I have an idea to revamp the Wikiproject and ways to make the project more efficient and helpful with Big Brother. To see my idea go to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Big Brother#Project Revamp. Thanks. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 05:16, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Vandalism
editConsider lucking this page until all announcements have been made? Fascinating to watch it flow back and forth, but... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.7.66.252 (talk • contribs) 21:48, 2 January 2009

Unprotect?
editHousemates announced now.81.96.131.189 (talk) 22:26, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes can we unprotect this now as the housemates are confirmed (in the House!) and the article is locked with incomplete information about who is in the House. Arswann (talk) 22:32, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
I think it should be semi-protected to stop the vandalism, plus the list of housemates is incomplete Msalmon (talk) 22:57, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Msalmon, that is the best typo I have ever seen. 81.96.131.189 (talk) 23:25, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Until it's semi-protected, you can use the {{editprotected}} template to request an admin make agreed upon edits. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 00:02, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's been unprotected. Terry still needs adding, and maybe another. Majorly talk 00:09, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- The legend needs completing. Majorly talk 00:12, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Tina and Ulrika nominated
editHas anybody got a source for this, if not then page needs changing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.100.221.196 (talk) 15:45, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Nominations
editThere is no source as to who Terry nominated - he didn't actually even nominated - I will undo every change relating to nominations until it's been announced on Official Site or on the Highlights Show. --BigOz22 (talk) 20:40, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Alphabetically ordering contestants
editSirrontail, the housemates are supposed to be in alphabetical order by their first name, not their surname, like it has been in the past series. See Celebrity Big Brother 2007 (UK) - SamK1994 (talk) 22:13, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- Agree, the housemates are always referred to only by their first name. Majorly talk 22:15, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Contestants section
editI have removed a lot of content from this section, as it has not been sourced. It is particularly important that all content here is sourced, since the section deals with living people. Tra (Talk) 17:03, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
HoH
editCan we not change the color that indicates Head of House? I think hard to depict between it and the color we have for nominated housemates. --79.77.212.151 (talk) 00:42, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's the colour used worldwide. It's not really that hard. Plus that template is used everywhere. --BigOz22 (talk) 01:08, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Daily summary
editIf anyone has the info at hand and can be bothered, the daily summary needs to be updated/added for the second week onwards. Feudonym (talk) 05:18, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Appearance fees
editSince Tommy annoounced on BBBM his reason for doing the show was for the money 60,500 we should list how much money the contestestant received. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cooly123 (talk • contribs) 16:59, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- It would be nice, but there'll be cited sources for most likely one or two contestants. They rarely say it themselves (apart from Tommy in this case), Channel 4 don't release it, and the rest is just speculation/unverified amounts from the tabloid press, so it would be pointless to start such a list (in my opinion). Feudonym (talk) 05:20, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
This is worth mentioning since it has been reported excessivily in the media since the series has started.--Cooly123 23:08, 19 February 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cooly123 (talk • contribs)
Day 13
editI have a question and a fact;
What was the song they had to play on the giant piano?
Ben scaring someone as a dinosaur is a reference to Toy Story I think, with Rex being a shy dinosaur.
Tense
editThe daily summary is written by someone with very poor English. It reads as if a 13 year old girl has written it. I've corrected any major errors I can see but I'm not so hot with English myself so hopefully someone else could give it a go. Adz657 (talk) 19:52, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Opening line
editAt the begining of this and all celebrity big brother's ( and why not general big brothers as well) let's list Davina's opening.
Example: Celebrity Big Brother 2009 "Ladies and Gentlemen, the ego's have landed".

I know we've only just finished a complicated renaming of every single Big Brother UK article, but disambiguation is not necessary here, as not only are none of the other CBBs called "Celebrity Big Brother 8", but none of them have even reached eight series. Unreal7 (talk) 18:34, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
