Historical Accuracy
editSeveral references to soviet/communist involvement in 1958 have been removed as these are not accurate.
Overall, this article needs a re-write. It doesn't cover Chamoun's involvement in corruption and his role in the events causing the Lebanese Civil War, nor his role in precipitating the crisis of 1958 by rigging elections.

Chamoun didnt cause the Lebanese Civil war LOL what esculated the civil was arab nationalists wanting to make Lebanon the only country to fight their wars from and the stupidity of the The Cairo Agreements which Gamal Abdul Nasser imposed in 1969 ♥Yasmina♥ (talk) 17:47, 4 February 2010 (UTC) the rigging of Election claim came from Arab nationalists who were bitter about the fact he didnt want to appease the Nasser in joing the Arab republio or war games. Also Chamoun had pro-western and neutral policies policies that angered Muslims.♥Yasmina♥ (talk) 17:47, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Reverting - Cold War People
editPearle, I hope you don't mind my reverting your last edit. You've removed a lot of names form the category of cold war people, and rightly so, but Chamoun was a key figure, if not the key figure, in the Lebanon Crisis of 1958, which Eisenhower of the USA blamed (rightly or wrongly) on Communist interference. The Cold War did have something to do with it, as least as regards America's decision to back Chamoun by sending marines. David Cannon 00:06, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
