PD image
editThis image on the DE wikipedia claims to be in the public domain: [1]. I don't think it is, but my understanding of copyright law was reference to US government sources is poor. If anybody can confirm it could they upload it to the commons, as it is a good pic. Yomanganitalk 22:46, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
- As far as I have understood, pictures published by e.g. NOAA is free to use, many of the shark pictuers in wikipedia is from NOOA. So should be ok. Stefan 04:10, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
Confirmed human kills
editThere's a source for confirmed human kills. By inference, this means that blue sharks attack humans. As such, I've removed the "citation needed" tag from the statement "Conversely, blue sharks are considered dangerous and have attacked humans." CHawc (talk) 12:04, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
the article implies that blue sharks can be studied in the great Salt Lake- which is devoid of fishes due to it's high salinity. This is very unclear to someone reading the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.32.233.180 (talk) 00:37, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
The number of attacks to human (including fatal ones) does not seem to agree to the one in the reference provided: http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/sharks/Statistics/species2.htm (it is true that now the data in the reference applies to 2009, not 2008, but still the difference seems too large!

editReduced the word count by about 12%, moved towards a more common outline, and added {{harv}} referencing. As the most widespread shark, this article needs a lot of development to reach its potential. Lfstevens (talk) 01:42, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
tropical... or preferring cooler waters?
edit"...inhabits deep waters in the world's temperate and tropical oceans. Preferring cooler waters,..." — doesn't seem to make sense somehow. Which one is it? lives in the tropics, or prefers cooler waters? Or both? Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 21:26, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
- It can be pretty cool in the deep waters of tropical oceans. Bever (talk) 23:53, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
fix obvious vandalism in ref 3
editSilly obvious vandalism in ref 3...I'm not very Wikipedia-savvy and couldn't immediately figure out how to fix it, so I hope someone else will. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.156.185.247 (talk) 23:26, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing this out. I fixed the vandalism, but am very surprised how long it lasted. Ensignricky (talk) 23:10, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

"rarely bite humans"
editnot today https://punchng.com/31-migrants-fall-into-the-mediterranean-eaten-by-sharks/ --130.43.80.237 (talk) 19:33, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
- That's still rare... Ocemccool (talk) 07:40, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
- My 1990s shark books frequently listed the blue shark as being "responsible for many horrific attacks at sea". Information today is probably better, so they have been misinformed. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 20:10, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
Blåhaj reference?
editShould something be added to reference how the blue shark is the inspiration for IKEA's Blåhaj plush? 88T3 (talk) 21:05, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
- There's a hatnote saying For the toy shark, see Blåhaj. This should be enough - we tend to say "x was inspired by y", rather than "y inspired x". Couruu (talk) 16:04, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
lakes
editIn the Blue shark range map, the species is erroneously shown to inhabit Lake Nicaragua and Lake Titicaca. There are Bull sharks in the former, not Blue sharks. Would someone who is able please correct the map. Thank you. Jellysandwich0 (talk) 00:58, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
