You're welcome, it looked like a misclick, so no problem. Acroterion (talk) 15:44, 26 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yeah thanks, I didn't realize that happened. Big mistake. Ensignricky (talk) 15:47, 26 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

It happens more often than you'd think, especially if your browser is slow to load and you click on something before it's all there. I've nearly blocked people or deleted things by accident; fortunately those operations need a confirmation before they happen. Acroterion (talk) 15:49, 26 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Polycentrus schomburgkii

edit

Hi, I'm Benboy00. Ensignricky, thanks for creating Polycentrus schomburgkii!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Could do with better (and more) references

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Benboy00 (talk) 00:30, 1 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Brackets around species authority

edit

Thanks for the welcome. A minor note on the use of brackets around species authority. If a species was described in the genus where it currently is placed, brackets aren't used around the species authority. If it originally was described in a separate genus, brackets are used. For example, Haplochromis vonlinnei was described in genus Haplochromis = no brackets ([1]). Haplochromis obliquidens was originally described in genus Chromis = brackets. This is part of the ICZN Code, specifically article 51.3. In general, FishBase get it right. Regards, 62.107.213.98 (talk) 06:11, 3 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Request for opinion

edit

Hi Ensignricky: Sorry to trouble you, but I could not help but notice your expression of affection for TOS on the Wikipedians who like Star Trek: The Original Series page, and so I would be curious of your thoughts on the notability of a Star Trek author for whom I just created a Wikipedia article -- which may be promptly destined for the trash pile. As a newcomer here at Wikipedia, my first article attempt was indeed recommended for deletion within hours of its creation by a senior user named JzG who seems to me to be overly hostile and dismissive of Star Trek, calling it fancruft (= trivial, obscure, of importance to just a tiny group of fanatics) . Since you are a Trek fan, if it is also your good faith opinion that my subject is in no way deserving of an article on this site; and you could let me know, I would feel much more comfortable with the justice of the pending deletion action. My proposed article may be seen here, assuming you visit the page soon enough ... https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Gerald_Gurian Kind Regards. Tosresearcher (talk) 05:35, 7 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
