Is it true that Strabo and Poseidonius describe the Armoricans as a tribe? My impression was just that anybody who lived in Armorica (the region from the Loire and Seine to the Channel, roughly Brittany and Normandy today) was Armorican, including people of many tribes – Osismii, Venetes, Redones, and so on. This is at least the text proposed by Mommsen when he inserted this inscription in the CIL ... and this hazardous reading, which neglects the fact that that the Armoricans, as a people, are called in Latin Armorici and not Armoricani.Loriot 2001.
Aremorici : old name of the inhabitants of present-day Brittany, Aremorica. The glossary of Vienna has : Aremorici 'antemarini, quia are ante, more mare, moriei marini' (Dottin 213, KGP 133). Composed of are 'in front of' and mori 'sea' with the suffix -kos (Grundriss II-l, 473-77); see at these words. The Slavic has the same type of formation to designate the inhabitants of Pomerania: Po-mor-jane 'those who live in front of the sea (Baltic, Adriatic)'. Delamarre 2003, p.53.
