Is it true that Strabo and Poseidonius describe the Armoricans as a tribe? My impression was just that anybody who lived in Armorica (the region from the Loire and Seine to the Channel, roughly Brittany and Normandy today) was Armorican, including people of many tribes – Osismii, Venetes, Redones, and so on. Composed of are 'in front of' and mori 'sea' with the suffix -kos (Grundriss II-l, 473-77); see at these words. The Slavic has the same type of formation to designate the inhabitants of Pomerania: Po-mor-jane 'those who live in front of the sea (Baltic, Adriatic)'. Delamarre 2003, p.53.
