Majority?

edit

The article states: "Native Andorrans account for only 33% of the population, with the majority being Spanish (43%), and notable minorities of Portuguese (11%) and French (7%)"

43% is not a Majority, it is a Plurality. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aapold (talkcontribs) 18:27, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Boris

edit

If this source is correct http://www.andorraantiga.com/Boris.htm actually there was no attempted coup by Boris but he was accepted as king until he was quickly detained by order of the Lérida coprincep. I am no expert: if this was not correct, please let me know, if not, I will edit accordingly. Mountolive | Talk 06:29, 10 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is a link to Andorra article exactly on the territory of Republic of San Marino in Google Earth (Lat. 43°55'60.00"N long. 12°25'60.00"E). I don't know how those links are made and so I can't fix it. Someone knows what is the way to do this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.51.176.152 (talk) 07:49, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Airport

edit

Article says that "Andorra la Vella has no airport of its own". Is this really true? http://www.theairdb.com/airport/ALV.html suggests that it even has it's own ICAO code? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Patsimon (talkcontribs) 02:09, 21 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Well if you look more carefully at what that page used to say, it's not an airport, but a heliport. :-B -- 188.27.182.195 (talk) 06:10, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Meaning of the name "Andorra la Vella"

edit

The "History" section needs attention from a native Andorran Catalan speaker. In modern Catalan, "vella" means old, but the Catalan language page for Andorra La Vella says that "la Vella" is derived from "la Vila," meaning "the Village." If this is the case, "Andorra the Old" is a very common but still incorrect translation. Here is another website claiming the mis-translation exploringandorra.com[1]. The common Spanish and French translations both encourage the error (Andorra la Vieja, Andorra-la-Vieille). This article should call attention to the incorrect translation and include the proper Andorran etymology.by doovie (talk) 15:34, 2 January 2016 (UTC)DoovieReply

The Latin word is VILLA, with a long I that couldn't give a "e" nor in Catalan neither in any other Romanic language. Latin VILLA gives "vila" in Catalan. Nobody says "vella" meaning 'vila' nor any village (there are hundreds) is called "Vella-" but "Vila-" 84.78.248.98 (talk) 16:22, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
