What's the deal with all of these "shout-outs"? Keep Wiki's intention in mind--the list of notable alumni should only include notable alumni.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.25.201.126 (talkcontribs) 00:39, September 20, 2006.

A suggestion: Include the year of graduation in parentheses for the notable alumni. ~Gertlex 03:51, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

NPOV

edit

I put in an NPOV tag- it just needs to have a couple sentences about how awesome some people are removed. Awesimo 19:24, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Whom Every keep editing in that he won the 2003 Mr.AB he did not he never did the winner was mike cooks as soon as i double check and find absolute proof i will post a picture or soemthing. but i know for a fact Kevin Schloemp did not win as i was a student going to the school at the time —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Talbaz (talkcontribs) 01:15, August 21, 2007 (UTC).

Not only did Kevin Schloemp not win Mr. AB 2003, but he'd hardly qualify as a notable AB alum when he's not even notable on CMU's campus, not to mention on the level of most qualifiers for "notable alumni." Kevin Schloemp needs to stop editing this article and deal with the fact that he isn't any more special than any other AB, or CMU for that matter, Alumni. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.231.203.137 (talk) 00:39, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability

edit

There needs to be some sort of consensus reached regarding who is "notable" and who is not. There is a wikipedia article which deals with this topic and can be used as a guideline, though perhaps since this article is about the school and not the individuals, the criteria can be lessened somewhat. Clearly, Butch Hartman, having created several very popular animated television series qualifies as a notable alumni. In addition, googling "Butch Hartman" yields 65,900 results. By contrast, Kevin Schloemp has been added (and removed) as a notable alumni several times though googling him yields a mere 64 results. Googling my own name yields 826 results and I don't consider myself a notable ABHS alum, though I might just barely meet the requirements in the notability article mentioned above. Whatever the case until some consensus is reached, I'll be using the notability article as a guideline and removing those individuals that don't meet those requirements. --Somegeekintn (talk) 20:18, 29 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

What this is; and what it isn't

edit

I just removed the entirety of the content on the arts programs here. It is obvious that someone, I'm guessing past and present students at this school, have gotten the entirely false notion that this article is something like Facebook for the school. It's not. If you want to laud the arts programs here, get a website.

This is an encyclopedia article about the school, not a bulletin board for the school. It is fine to simply list that the school has a band orchestra chorus theatrical arts program etc. as academic options without any embellishments sourced to an official school publication or website. No one outside the community cares what the various choirs are named. No one outside the community cares what the qualifications are to join. Everyone can figure out that the band has woodwinds. No one cares about the names of anyone. Do not add any claims of achievement without adding a completely independent reliable source. Don't mention achievements unless they are competitive victories at state or national level competition. It's great your band and chorus pull first divisions. It is not however encyclopedic. Outside the existence of the programs, unless you have reliable independent sources discussing it, it isn't relevant to this article. Feel free to re-add encyclopedic content on the arts program. Just remember that everything here must be neutrally toned and verifiable. John from Idegon (talk) 04:38, 20 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
