Background

edit

The song was written in early 1976, where John Lennon "stepped out from his 'house husband' lifestyle" to write the song for Ringo Starr.[3] the song was premonitory, as Lennon told Starr, because he wanted to extend his time off from writing new music, as Sean Lennon, his second son was born.[4]

Recording

edit

The song was recorded in Los Angeles, but it is unknown where it was recorded.[5] The recording of the song was the first proper recording session Lennon attended since he recorded Fame with David Bowie.[6] The recording of the song was also the last time Lennon would collaborate with Starr.[7]

Reception

edit

Nick DeRiso of Ultimate Classic Rock called it "simply a goof."[8]
