Country and region categories

edit

in 2012, country and region categories for Islamophobia were renamed/merged to "Opposition to Islam" per Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2012_July_25#Islamophobia_categories.

Some have since been recreated. – Fayenatic London 12:32, 25 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sentiments vs. rational

edit

Why is Criticism of X part of the Anti-X sentiment anyway? Criticism is the rational, unbiased analysis, or skeptical evaluation, a discipline or practice, and is a matter of mind, while a Anti-X sentiments are, well, sentimental involvement, which is, and I hope we can agree, irrational expression. Criticism of Islam should be placed under Criticism of religion and Islam-related controversies, as in case of Criticism of Judaism, and I intend to amend that. This shouldn't happen in the future, so let's clarify the situation. Criticism is done by people who are trained to critically examine something, their criticism is accepted by mainstream (academia, media, etc). On the opposite are those not exactly trained and who engage in polemicism driven by emotional involvement, or monetary benefit, or combination of two (every now and then, but rarely, even trained people fall into this trap). That's where polemicisms, sold as criticism, are moved to the fringes or rejected altogether by the mainstream, while polemicists themselves get criticized as such (or worse) - we as a project should be even stricter, but first we need to know how to differentiate between the two, which in practice mean not categorizing likes of David Duke or Robert Spencer as "critics". I will check entire tree under Religious discrimination, Xenophobia and Prejudice and discrimination by type, and remove Criticism of Islam, Criticism of Christianity and Criticism of Judaism from that tree, and place them under Criticism of religion and X-related controversies.--౪ Santa ౪99° 17:10, 20 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
