Support series season article names

edit

I was just about to undertake moving the WRC2/3/Junior season articles from the extended names. Is anybody unhappy with 2013 WRC2 Championship, etc? With 40 or so pages I thought it would be best to be clear.

The full season articles (2013 World Rally Championship) have championship in their names and thus make sense. Obviously the old names do, but renaming literally to 2013 WRC2 looks unnaturally abrupt.

F1 support, 2012 FIA Formula Two Championship, also adds championship. I'm not seeing 'season' appended across motorsport in general, ie. 2013 WRC2 Championship season, and I guess 'common names' are not an issue.

Sorry if this has been discussed before. Rally Wonk (talk) 09:17, 18 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of List of WRC2 drivers

edit

The article List of WRC2 drivers has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced, abandoned for 9 years and unlikely to be improved, confusing amalgamation of WRC2 and SWRC, pointless list even if improved serves no meaningful purpose, achieves next to no visitors

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Rally of Indonesia

edit

Some inexperienced editor made (unformatted) additions to the page, and I don't have a clue if they are correct or not. Is there actually a continuation to the event or is there a new event? ewrc-results.com doesn't help with that. Pelmeen10 (talk) 19:08, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I reverted the edits. I think the editor sees addition of an Indonesian event in the APRC as it being the same event. Unless there is evidence to the contrary, they are separate events:

"Rallying"

edit

FYI, the name and primary topic of Rallying is under discussion at a move request. See talk:Rallying -- 64.229.90.32 (talk) 05:21, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Ralliart and Mitsubishi Ralliart WRT

edit

It looks like there was an attempt to split content from Ralliart to a new article, Mitsubishi Ralliart WRT, by @Osku87. Content on Ralliart was removed in this edit without explanation of the new page, so the edit was immediately reversed.

Now there is very similar content on both articles, so could do with some input on scope and naming of both. Rally Wonk (talk) 11:25, 30 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Also, looking at the user's contributions; the redirect from Toyota Castrol Team to Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe was removed and replaced with - let's say a draft. And the redirect from Toyota Team Europe being re-redirected from TGR Europe to TCT. There are already more Toyota motorsport pages than necessary. Rally Wonk (talk) 11:33, 30 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think the user is translating articles from other Wikis, also created Draft:SEAT World Rally Team. Pelmeen10 (talk) 13:49, 31 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Updating Old Pages

edit

Hello everybody! I am quite new to Wikipedia and took a stab at updating the 2006 Rally of Turkey page. I would love your feedback on how you think the design is, if there is anything I should include, take out, or improve upon, so I can get to updating other old rallies. Thank you so much in advance! Gman197002 (talk) 17:53, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Gman197002, looks pretty good to me. I've glanced at some of your other edits as well. I see with a lot of (or all) of you citations you have just put bare urls. Of course it's good that you are providing citations, but ideally try to start putting full citations. Have a look at Wikipedia:Bare URLs. (If you are using the desktop browser editor it's not too difficult, when you have the edit window open you can click "cite" then use the templates to fill in the bibliographical information). Ideally all rally articles should have a summary/report of at least a similar length to the one on 2006 Rally of Turkey#Summary, but don't feel obliged, and certainly most don't (Wikipedia:Wikipedia is a work in progress)! Thank you for taking a look! And also thank you for linking me to that article, it's very helpful! I wasn't familiar with adding more to references; I'll make sure to do that to all that I add from here on out (and I'll go back and edit some of the pages I've already made as well). I've started working on rallies in the 1999 season that don't currently have pages. Hopefully at some point in the future, every WRC rally will have a page.
