Not many

edit

Not many of us active. I thought there'd be more. In a similar vein , do any of you ever wonder if anyone ever reads all these RL articles we write ? Do any of you get any feedback that suggests so ? -Sticks66 13:43, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

The only feedback I've had is
(1) from my partner (a Dragons tragic) who thinks I'm nuts spending time researching/editing a resource that can be fried at any minute by a vandal or changed by someone who thinks they know better, and therefore will not use WP as a reference, and
(2) when I was explaining to Karmichael's WA rellies why I needed a photo, it was wiki-what?
And, while we are on this sort of topic - I get peeved when I do go looking for info about someone and can't find anything really relevant. That's when I like to try and fill the holes. So really, I just do it to satisfy my own thirst for knowledge. Bit of a challenge. Build a website or two. Florrie 14:34, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Here's how I think of it: when you need to research a topic quickly, what source do you use? Personally I just type it into the address bar; replacing "Main_Page" with the topic name on Wikipedia. Wikipedia has whatever you need to read, when you want it and almost 100% of the time it's a well-written article. I see Wikipedia quoted often on the Roosters forum for whatever reason so I suspect that pages are viewed fairly often. I'm sure if rugby league fans wanted to find out information about someone like Dally Messenger quickly, that they would either come here directly or find us through Google. And the large amount of vandalism I see on active rugby league pages such as National Rugby League season 2007 suggests that there are many who view the page. mdmanser 15:13, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Referring to Sticks comment, rugby league isn't the biggest well wideworld topic compared to rugby (union) or other sports. It is only popular in Australia, England, New Zealand and PNG. And even in those countires it's rivaled by cricket, union, soccer (Eng), so we may not get feedback, I mean. When I was tagging articles with our WikiProject tag, the'd be a comment, from December last year, and no-one replies. SpecialWindler talk 21:13, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I created this to find if their were active participants, because if we wanted to get an active wikiProject here, we needed to weed out unactive persons. Its a shame to say we have 50+ editors and only about 5 contribute to discussions on the talk page, raising questions etc. I also added the semi-active things, just so people who don't contribute are still here. This was also meant to go for a whole month before we decided who was inactive. SpecialWindler talk 21:13, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
