New template: infobox highway system
The US has had {{infobox state highway system}}, but now there is a more generic {{infobox highway system}} designed for a more globalized use. Imzadi 1979 → 21:59, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Mexico Federal Highways article's titles
- Moved from wrong location. Imzadi 1979 → 05:38, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
Where would it be appropriate to submit a request that WP-EG start respecting the names of institutions from other countries by not changing their names. The point is the Federal Highways titleing the article Mexican .... when the institution is not a nationality nut a nation. It would be similar to what has been developed with the national football (soccer) teams. That unless "ian" or "an" is in the grammar of the name in the host countires legislation that it be called by the countries name. We do not call the interstate highway system of the United States "American ...." or even United Statesian. We really should not disrespect other nations by doing so especially if WP intends to be universal instead of an elitist institution. If you review the Spanish language WP the articles are "Mexican ......" One of the continuing problems of WP is that an article will be published in the English WP dealing with a subject or institution from another country or language and the name that is applied is not what is a literal translation of the name but an American version of the name. That is being very disrespectful and somewhat xenophobic especially as the subject or institution is not of the United States and should be viewed within the context of the host country or language. It would put this in a more appropriate space but I have yet to learn how to navigate through the complexities of WP.2605:E000:9143:7000:ADF3:5457:D866:C0E6 (talk) 05:27, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- While the poster is going on about non-existent biases, there is a point in there. Using Federal Highway 1 (Mexico) would be more inline with other national highway articles and also using the government's preferred form. Would be worth discussing. SounderBruce 06:09, 8 January 2018 (UTC
- Using "Federal Highway # (Mexico)" would be far more universally unifying than attempting in every situation to understand a language that we may not use. How many variances do we have in English grammar in order to placate those that call for something not to be expressed in an awkward manner although it may be grammatically correct. Since there is a tradition of using variance to the rule then the statement " that word position requires an adjective in proper English" is obsolete. So now that we have established that WP does not have to be grammatically correct in every instance, can we get to a position that more universally solves the situation instead of a piecemeal habit? I am not about to impose on another country just how is it that the other country's customs and practices have to be twisted in order to be found understandable to another. This type of confrontation does not help anyone.2605:E000:9143:7000:ADF3:5457:D866:C0E6 (talk) 21:21, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
