Reference for Name for Drag Race Germany...

Drag Race Deutschland has been registered with the German Trademark Office by World of Wonder [1] is this a good reference for the series name over on the Franchise page?Naraht (talk) 04:58, 25 October 2022 (UTC)

For Mexico, the patent is for it as Drag Race Mexico (no accented E) [2] but the translation into Spanish does have it. DRAG RACE MEXICO vs. CARRERA DRAG MÉXICO . The fandom site also has a link from Brasil, but I can't bring up the website.Naraht (talk) 05:19, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
Well for Germany, someone did add it on franchise page but then removed. If Mexico's reference is in the page, then it's no problem to add Germany's reference. — JuanGLP (talk) 11:26, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
I'm extremely late to the party, but I've been keeping an eye out on German sources and still not any info about a name. In case I drop off editing again for a few more months, here are a few reliable German/Austrian sites that might yield some info if/when it starts trickling out: Queer.de Mannschaft.com (these two are queer-oriented sites kinda like Out.com) derStandard.de Berliner Zeitung (these are more formal news publications) Tajaditas(talk) 06:52, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
@Tajaditas, thank you for being on the look out for the name of the German adaptation! I will also be on the lookout for the Mexican adaptation. — JuanGLP (talk) 02:49, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

Redirect proposal

Xilhouete has been cast in a Filipino movie "Here Comes the Groom" (a *massive* body switch movie, think Freaky Friday on Steroids) as such, I checked to see where she was otherwise mentioned. I noted that as a RPDR Philippines queen, her redirect is to Drag Race Philippines *not* to Drag Race Philippines (season 1). My proposal is that when a Season 1 is forked from the National Drag Race article (presumably due to the announcement of Season 2) that all queens that are redirects from the National Drag article be moved to Season 1.Naraht (talk) 15:44, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

I believed whenever a DR series is renewed or casting call is announced (for a season 2), we always forked season 1 to its own page and re-redirect the S1 contestants to the S1 article. Though I believe this time that one of the editors forgot to re-redirect the S1 contestants to the S1 articles (for the Philippines). If you would like to move them, then go ahead. 😊 — JuanGLP (talk + contribs) 16:26, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
Moved them. Also created a few more redirects. The season had 3 queens where there drag name was XYZ ABC, but they went by XYZ on the show. Both XYZ and XYZ ABC should be made into redirects.13:40, 13 March 2023 (UTC)

Drag Isn't Dangerous

The telethon, Drag Isn't Dangerous, would it be considered to be included in this Wikiproject? It does involve many drag queens from Drag Race, and we know they have close connection with PEG. — JuanGLP (talk + contribs) 02:11, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

I'm comfortable including the WikiProject Drag Race banner given sources like "RuPaul's Drag Race winners and queer icons unite for telethon combatting anti-drag politics". I've updated the talk page. ---Another Believer (Talk) 02:23, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

DRES3 question.

The text for DRES3 includes the following. "Contestants in the season included The Switch Drag Race alumni Pakita and Clover Bish, ". While I can find Pakita on The Switch season 2 (she was the Porkchop of the season), I can't find Clover Bish on either season 1 or season 2. Was there a season 3, did she participate under another name or something else?Naraht (talk) 13:17, 4 April 2023 (UTC)

I think it was a typo, who ever wrote that. And I know that there wasn't a season three of The Switch, since they were cancelled after S2. And if she did participated, check her social media, contestants always put that they participated in a contest on their bio. — JuanGLP (talk + contribs) 14:09, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
I think the sentence was just written in a way which suggested both appeared on The Switch. Hopefully these minor changes help to reduce confusion a bit. Glad you pointed this out! ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:17, 4 April 2023 (UTC)

Project-independent quality assessments

Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.

No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.

However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present. Helpful is not the same as encyclopedic. I'm "bummed" to see you ignoring all the guidelines. --woodensuperman 14:16, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
Sorry but your reasoning does not make sense to me. You keep gutting content because you think people are "already celebrities" when in some cases their appearances on the shows are what make them notable. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:21, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
Appearing in the first instance of a show can be what makes them notable. However, that cannot be claimed for their appearances on subsequent related shows. And we're making an exception to WP:PERFNAV for that first appearance anyway. --woodensuperman 14:26, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
I found the templates helpful because of the crossover amongst franchises by some contestants. In my opinion, you're being too aggressive and not listening to the editors who create and use these templates, but I'll move on to other things if no one else is bothered by your changes. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:31, 26 May 2023 (UTC)
We're back to WP:FANCRUFT again. The minutiae that you find helpful doesn't make for a good encyclopedia. That's why we have guidelines. It might be "WP:USEFUL" to Star Trek fans (as an example) to link to every Star Trek actor in {{Star Trek}}, but there's a reason WP:PERFNAV exists. --woodensuperman 14:34, 26 May 2023 (UTC)

Katya template creation?

What do you think of creating a template for Katya? — JuanGLP (talk) 18:48, 18 February 2023 (UTC)

I'm fine with everything other than possibly the "background=solo singer", I'm not sure why that was chosen, she appears to be more notable in at least two other areas more significantly than singing. It also would be a very asymmetric Template, in that most of the pages in the template would not be appropriate to have the template including in that page (I don't think for example, that this template belongs on the RPDR:AS3 page)Naraht (talk) 14:20, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

Having a quick read, its not the exclusive home of drag race in the US and is a carrier for previously aired content. All of its programming has previously aired on other channels or WOWPlus. At this moment in time, I'm not overly keen on more than a passing mention. "High" and "Low" placement in progress table in season 15.

Hi all. I just saw that the progress table for Season 15 is including HIGH and LOW placements, which according to past discussions, we're not using. I removed them, but I guess we're gonna have to keep watch on the templates for progress tables, and perhaps restrict them during the season. Not A Superhero (talk) 07:04, 21 January 2023 (UTC)

To the bunch of snobs who had a "consensus" to remove the high and low placements... We don't like you. Mightbeaquarian (talk) 00:08, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

BAHAHA! This literally made my day! LMAOOO, I know this isn't professional but HAHAAHA. The reason why we (not me) removed the HIGH and LOW placements is for people who have a disability, such as blindness or color-blindness. And I know that I don't like this method but it is simple, and I leave it be. If you don't like this way, discuss it on Wikipedia, make a statement on why you don't like it. If you can't do it, then there's always another plan: WikiFandom.. :)
JuanGLP (talk) 00:20, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
Respectfully, if "we" want to accommodate those with vision disabilities then why can't we just use other web colors or at the very least use the HIGH and LOW tiles without colors? Accommodation should not mean erasure of data LOL. Also, your logic doesn't really make sense considering The Switch Drag Race and Drag Race Thailand use other colored tiles on their scoreboards. If y'all like it the way you like it then just say that, instead of hiding behind this random excuse. cmilette (talk) 17:13, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

Adding note.

Whenever we create a new article for a constestant, we should add this: {{efn|McGoldrick uses [[she (pronoun)|she/her]] and [[singular they|they/them]] pronouns in drag. This article uses she/her pronouns for consistency.}}

To know what I am talking about, look over on Jax (drag queen). This can be used on other contestants. — JuanGLP (talk + contribs) 17:28, 14 March 2023 (UTC)

But the note is not quite right, so I've made some changes. Happy to discuss further on the article's talk page. ---Another Believer (Talk) 17:35, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
@Another Believer, I have just seen it and it is perfect. 😊 Also, I have a suggestion! We should add this to any drag queen who uses the she/her pronouns while in drag. It may be helpful for the readers. — JuanGLP (talk + contribs) 02:21, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
The vast majority of drag queens use she/her pronouns while in drag, but sometimes notes are helpful for flagging to readers why the entry sometimes switches between "he", "she", or "they". To me, what's most important is noting preferred pronouns while out of drag. ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:30, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

Regina Voce

I know that I promised another Wikipedia editor that as soon as there was (X) information on DR:M that I'd move it to mainspace (may have been JuanGLP), I see that it has been moved and given the additional information in the last few days, I don't think I'll have to do that myself :). Category for judges?

Would a category like Category:Drag Race (franchise) judges be helpful? Curious what project members and User:Woodensuperman (given recent category and template deletion nominations) think. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:27, 10 May 2023 (UTC)

No, this would still be a WP:PERFCAT. To quote the guideline: Avoid categorizing performers by [...] performance—even for permanent or recurring roles—in any specific radio, television, film, or theatrical production --woodensuperman 15:32, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
I think Category:Judges in American reality television series would be okay though, just not by specific production. --woodensuperman 15:48, 10 May 2023 (UTC)

Collaboration of the Month: June 2023

¡Hola hola hola! Time to select another Collaboration of the Month.

I was thinking we might do something different this month. Normally, a single article is selected. For June, I propose the following: Las reinas de Drag Race México: Gala Varo, Margaret Y Ya, y Regina Voce. This way, we can expand three short entries related to the new show. User:JuanGLP, User:MiguelAlanCS, does this interest you, or do you have any other suggestions? ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:21, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

Not us celebrating the Hispanic/Latin Heritage Month that early! (Also, just in time for Pride Month!) Yes, this does interest me. We can include the Spanish queens (if @MiguelAlanCS is interested). I will start with Regina Voce. — JuanGLP (talk/contribs) 15:26, 30 May 2023 (UTC)
I certainly have no problem with improving entries for the Spanish queens, too, but for the sake of focus I have added 'Las reinas de Drag Race México' to Wikipedia:WikiProject Drag Race/Collaboration of the Month for June. Looking forward! ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:36, 30 May 2023 (UTC)

Renovated

Hi!

I decided to bold and updated the page, for easy accessible to users who are in or planning to join the WikiProject. I added a WP:Invitation template, if you decided to invite someone to the WikiProject. (Also I have updated the userbox.) Under WP:RPDR/Editing, I added potential topics from the franchise, so they can be reassessed from a "stub" to a "C" or "B". WP:RPDR/Showcase will included recognized content, thanks to @Another Believer, we have another featured article! Dedicated to Cherry Valentine. I also want to add the DYKs recoginiton to the page, but I do not know how to. Thanks!

Mini-challenge prize: Immunity

For Drag Race Sverige, the Mini-challenge prize was immunity in the main challenge. I remember that occuring in RPDR, but I think it has been a few seasons. Should that be marked differently in the progress table?Naraht (talk) 14:01, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

I feel it should be marked on the contestant progress, since the shows do state the contestants having immunity. Though if we add it, how would it look like? — JuanGLP (talk + contribs) 15:42, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
Green(allowed by the color blindness rules?) with IMMU? The only two seasons that I can find with normal mentions of Immunity are Seasons 2 & 5. Season 14 would also probably be part of it as DelaSkye for being the least bad in Snatch Game was immune from LaLaPaRUza. (Yes, she won with Lil Jon, but it still won't make anyone's list of best 20 lipsyncs)Naraht (talk) 21:24, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
Maybe discuss with the people who were involved with the accessibility discussion, they might help out. — JuanGLP (talk + contribs) 15:12, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
Novem Linguae, Thijslandsmeer, RandomCanadian, Armadillopteryx, Isaidnoway (Adding those who I think were in the accessibility discussion). For adding that a queen due to a prior (either mini- or maxi- challenge) win is immune from Lipsyncing, is the addition of a Green IMMU allowed? It appears that none of the current blocks are in green, but I don't know if that is due to color blindness concerns. From the standpoint of provability, I believe this can be shown rather than guessed. Suggestions welcome.Naraht (talk) 14:44, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Order of all seasons?

Does it make sense to have *anything* (Not even sure what page, I guess Franchise) to keep track of the order of the Seasons among all of the Franchises? For example, right now, the only way to tell that during 2022 DR:FR S1 occured before DR:IT S2 is to look at the individual pages.Naraht (talk) 13:17, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

I don't know if the page would be kept longterm (the list of lip-syncs was just deleted), but you could always try creating something like Drag Race timeline with bulleted list or table which puts a sequence together. I think you'd need to demonstrate how a timeline is helpful from a Wikipedia perspective. Just my initial thought! ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:37, 22 June 2023 (UTC)

Philippines Season 2

Looks like we have the list of Queens for Philippines Season 2. Redirects should be created. And we have probably the *most* bizarre name for a Queen (and possibly most problematic for Redirects): ØV CÜNT , who (according to the ew article with the information is participating as <nobreak>ØV C--T</nobreak>. So I guess we make a redirect under that (anyone what the rules are for hyphens vs. dashes in article names?) And I'm presuming the initial character is the letter that exists in Norwegian, etc. But I have no idea if we would sort that with O or after Z.Naraht (talk) 17:10, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
