Duplicate articles John Paul (1883-1964)

John Paul (1883-1964) and John Paul, Jr. (1883 - 1964) appear to be the same person, with substantial content in both articles, and were marked for merge proposal on 1 Feb 2008 since when there has been no discussion. One is marked for WikiProject Biography/Politics and government and one for WikiProject Virginia, so I'm putting this note on both talk pages in the hope that someone interested will sort him out! This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Use of campaign logos in politician bios

User:Kelleycm insists on installing an image of a campaign logo on Ben Cline, a bio article of a current Virginia state legislator. It seems to me this raises issues with WP:NPOV at the very least, but is there a more specific guideline than that or WP:BLP I can point him to? Rklear (talk) 19:13, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

I actually think that is OK. I can't imagine how that would relate to BLP: there is nothing libelous about it, and it's not like there's a free replacement image for a logo. Think of it the same as a company logo.--A. Gorilla (talk) 03:31, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

PA House & Senate Resources

Articles regarding the Pennsylvania State Senate and the Pennsylvania House of Representatives have passed some major milestones recently. First, every State Rep and Senator who served from 2000-now has at least a bare-bones article. However, these articles still need to be fleshed out, and everyone is invited to help out. Every State Rep article has at least an archived external link to an official PA House profile. This can be used for biographical data. The Senator articles still don't have this, but such links can be found here: (1997199819992000200120012002200320042005200620072008). The article for Thomas W. Dempsey is a good example of how these can look.

Second, every PA Senate district and PA House District have articles. However, most of the senate and many house articles still need a table of representatives. That data can be found here. Factual error in at least 2 articles

Articles for Gary K. Hart and for John Briggs (Politician) have factual errors which may also occur in other articles on California legislators. The 35th Assembly District was re-numbered in the early 1970s, during redistricting after the census. When John Briggs represented the 35th, it was in Orange County Gary K. Hart lived in Santa Barbara County. I can't recall who preceded him, but it certainly was not Briggs.

From Briggs' papers at  :

Biography John V. Briggs, Republican was a member of the Assembly from 1967 to 1976. He represented the 35th District, which included the northern parts of Orange County and the western parts of San Bernardino County. After redistricting took effect in 1974, he represented the 69th District, which covered part of Orange County, including the city of Fullerton. He then served in the Senate from 1977 to 1981 for the 35th District, which included parts of Orange Country.

Someone needs to repair this and check other pages on the CA legislature, which may have the same problem.

Bernhard Ernst von Bülow

I think the article Bernhard Ernst von Bülow has a picture of his son, Bernhard von Bülow, rather than the father. Does anyone have any ideas? The image comes from the german government archive (link via commons) and anyone understanding German or German names might be able to make more sense of the caption. It appears to say the man in the picture was chancellor, which I don't think the father was. On the other hand, the name is different to the son's. Sandpiper (talk) 09:51, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

I have another query if anyone is good with pictures. This image, shows Bernhard Bulow junior on the left and its caption says something like 'with a trooper'. Though I dont read German. Does anyone know what the uniform is of the guy on the right? Secondly, is it possible that it is Kaiser Wilhelm II. The moustache looks a bit small but the face seems possible. while on the subject, can anyone translate 'Treffen zwischen Kaiser Wilhelm II. und Zar Nikolaus II. in der Danziger Bucht vor Heisternest auf der Insel Hela, 11. - 13.9.1901.- Reichskanzler Bernhard Fürst von Bülow (sitzend, 2. von rechts) mit deutschen und russischen Offizieren an Bord der kaise '. "Meeting of Wilhelm II and Nicholas II in Gdańsk Bay at Jastarnia on the Hel Peninsula, 11 - 13 September 1901 - Bernhard von Bülow (sitting, second from the right) with German and Russian officers on board of the kaise..." - that probably meant "kaiserliche X"/"imperial X" - It doesn't say in the text where Nicholas is, perhaps he's not there because the meeting describes the whole three days and this could be a specific moment without him.
