Wording

edit

Does anybody else find the word "listed" confusing when used in the context of being nominated? I believe that by changing this to something else, e.g. "xxx is a current featured list candidate" (as used on the template on the articles' talk pages), it will be less confusing. Shall we change the news appropriately? G.A.S 09:33, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree with you on that one. Especially with the listed as a featured list one. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 13:21, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I think that sounds good, too. I actually wouldn't mind getting the wording hammered out for each possibility, and then updating all the news items to use them. —Dinoguy1000 19:57, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I agree with that. "Listed" sounds a bit awkward to me. Itzjustdrama? 19:59, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Can I continue by updating the wording? G.A.Stalk 05:53, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Go for it! :) -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 05:57, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is pretty much everything I could find listed in our news log, feel free to add anything else if you think we'll ever have need of it. Thoughts? —Dinoguy1000 17:38, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

My preferences are indicated above (•). G.A.Stalk 05:59, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Good, anyone else? BTW, when I first wrote this list out, whether a proposed item was listed as "Proposed" or "Alternate" did not reflect my own preference (I meant to do that, but forgot to before saving). I have reordered them to do so now - "Proposed" is my preferred version, and "Alternate" is the secondary one. Oh, and one more thing, when e.g. "good article", "featured list candidate", "peer review" etc. are linked, I think they should link to the relevant discussion, as opposed to linking to the project pages on each thing. Anyone else agree? —Dinoguy1000 19:04, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I pretty much agree with G.A.S., but I marked them anyway (~). And yea, I believe the discussions should be linked instead of project pages. ~ Itzjustdrama? 21:17, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Agree with G.A.S's options and also agree, it would be much more useful to link to the actual discussion rather than the project page. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 22:52, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I agree with linking to the discussion pages... There is little sense in linking to the project page, especially if you are looking the archives up, and with GA's having their own sub-pages now (we can use {{autolink}} to create the link once the sub-page is created). G.A.Stalk 05:34, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
All right, anyone feel up to linking to the discussions, then? I'd do it myself, but I think I may not have much time on the comp today, and I already spent too much time doing a bit of cleanup on Production I.G#Works... =P Of course, if no one else does it, I'll get around to it eventually anyways, so... —Dinoguy1000 17:47, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
At the earliest, I will be able to do this after the weekend, so if it is not done by then... G.A.Stalk 20:54, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think we've probably got all the votes we're going to get on these, then, unless someone wants to mention this on the main talk page. In that light, I'm tentatively closing this vote with obvious results - all but two of my proposed updates (Good article relisting and Peer reviews) got everyone else's votes (counting mine, that's four votes each), and for the other two, the first alternate got everyone else's votes, so I suppose we can go through and update everything like that. —Dinoguy1000 18:18, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think it should :) It is within "our" realm. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 13:55, 13 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Agreed, we should note anything on other wikis that we would note if it happened here. IMHO, the only reason we don't note such stuff for other language WPs is a lack of manpower/interest. At the very least, though, we should definitely make a point to include stuff from Commons, Meta, etc. =) ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 21:58, 13 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
