Would this image be considered OK if the biggest logos were cropped out? --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 22:35, 18 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • It would actually be OK even without cropping the logos. There is no policy forbidding display of logos on the Main Page.
Some Wikipedians do not like to display non-free images on the front page, but they are not prohibited either by policy or law. Displaying a fair use image is perfectly OK. Johntex\talk 07:16, 19 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Please see Wikipedia:FAQ/Main Page#Why is a Main Page section missing an illustrative image? for a brief explanation why fair use images are not put on the main page. Or for a very, very brief reason, see this edit by Jimbo Wales. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 07:40, 19 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Jimbo does not rule by unilateral fiat, and one edit by Jimbo does not a policy make. Johntex\talk 13:40, 19 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
