Evening

edit

This Wiknic has a later starting time than most (2pm instead of noon), to shift us more toward afternoon/early evening for the meal. It's not a hard closing time either, and I'd be glad to hang around even later for anyone observing Ramadan or if we just want to stay together as a group into the evening.--Pharos (talk) 16:14, 14 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

WikiSeder elements are a light addition

edit

Just a note that WikiSeder elements are a light addition to the activities - feel free to bring all variety of breads (Passover is technically over by the weekend), Easter eggs, anything from different cultural traditions.--Pharos (talk) 15:59, 18 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

"The four wiki-questions"?

edit

In revision Special:Diff/1083771305, a seemingly not-Wikinic-related section was added, with questions about the nature of Wikipedia. RoySmith could you help me understand why you added this? I don't really see the relevance. aismallard (talk) 14:45, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Pharos hosted a free culture-themed, non-denominational, WikiSeder a year or two ago, which appropriated the forms/traditions of a Passover Seder (like the Ma Nishtana) for the purposes of reinforcing Wikimedia community. I found it to be a fun, clever idea, but it's entirely optional, of course. It may make sense to contextualize that section of this page, however. :) — Rhododendrites talk \\ 14:52, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Note added. But I think it actually be fun and educational to do this. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:24, 21 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
In case you hadn't noticed, there is a somewhat more elaborate version along similar lines at m:WikiSeder. Pharos (talk) 17:02, 22 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I started working on "One sock, one sock, who the spammer bought for two bitcoin", but couldn't make it work. -- RoySmith (talk) 23:46, 23 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Grill confirmed!

edit

I just wanted to confirm for everyone that we will indeed be having a grill on Sunday, so feel free to bring your grill-able foods.--Pharos (talk) 16:14, 23 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Uploaded one of the group photos I took to Commons: File:WMNYC Wiknic April 2022.jpg.

Thanks!

Thank you to everybody who organized this. I really enjoyed meeting people again, and enjoyed even more meeting many of you for the first time. And it was a great excuse for a bit of a bike ride, and some relaxing on the ferry. -- RoySmith (talk) 20:54, 26 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
