Croatian settlement articles mass creation II

edit

Previously: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Croatia/Archive 5#Croatian settlement articles mass creation

While @Joy and I are preparing for a wider discussion on the creation of the remaining 3200 Croatian settlement stubs, it'd be good to gather some sources to "illustrate the body of scholarly and other work out there on the topic of these settlements". Feel free to join!

  • Naselje
  • Croatian law with tables of municipalities and settlements
  • Register of spatial units of the State Geodetic Administration of the Republic of Croatia, Wikidata Q119585703 whose data is used by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics in 2021 Croatian census: population data by age, sex, settlement (in Croatian and English), Croatian Bureau of Statistics, 22 September 2022, Wikidata Q118496886
  • All those settlements are on the List of Croatian settlements and delivery post offices, Wikidata Q125763583 (follow the Qid for their search engine link)
  • Many will have a school (usually as "područna škola")
  • While all municipalities list their settlements on their websites, some are more verbose: vrlika.hr or vratisinec.hr or lovinac.hr is my quick random choice. Some histories go back many centuries ago.
  • When it comes to scholarly work, one can find 700 pp books like Narodna umjetnost: Studije i građa u Sinjskoj krajini covering history and ethnography of a region, old settlements included. IMO, lack of sources is not a problem, it's the lack of people who'd write articles. Creating articles from scratch is a tedious process (waste of time for humans for sure), having something like Dubrava, Split-Dalmatia County should be a good start.

Adresar JLP(R)S here contains links to municipal/city websites and names of mayors etc. --Tomobe03 (talk) 20:07, 22 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I also wanted to mention that the topic of naselja is currently described mostly with these clerical or primary sources, but there's also coverage of the concept in scholarly sources, such as searching Hrčak for e.g. 'naselja Hrvatske' with Google or with their search. Because the earlier concerns about settlements were that they were often census-invented, we should make sure to explain how this census data is describing practical reality of human settlement (as opposed to shoehorning population data into geolocations artificially). --Joy (talk) 10:52, 23 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
True. The minimum of information may be sourced to the online edition of the Croatian Encyclopedia here for some of them and Istrapedija here (Istria County and LZMK joint project). Hrčak is a very good resource.--Tomobe03 (talk) 15:16, 23 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
It would be interesting to see what this 12-volume Homeland encyclopedia really is. The editors claim 2500 people collected data and stories on 6500+ Croatian settlements. @Joy @Tomobe03 Ponor (talk) 01:28, 15 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have not had a chance to have a look at it yet. Judging only from the publisher being an enterprise not normally publishing scientific literature, I'd be cautious about anything published there and probably would not include anything not corroborated by another RS. In the worst case scenario, it could be a good pointer for research.--Tomobe03 (talk) 08:46, 15 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

1970s in Croatian television

edit

I don't know much about Croatia or television, but I found a lot of nearly-empty stubs for years in 1970s Croatian television, and it looks like nobody has worked on most of them for a few years, so I am currently merging them into one page for the decade (Draft: 1970s in Croatian television). I'll move it to 1970s in Croatian television when I've added the content from all of the year stubs. I have moved all of the individual stubs to draft space. I'll do the 1960s next if I get time ant nobody objects? Industrial Metal Brain (talk) 02:14, 16 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

On the initiative of the Matica hrvatska and Brethren of the Croatian Dragon Sabor proclaimed 2025 as "The year of the 1100th anniversary of the Croatian Kingdom" (Godina obilježavanja 1100. obljetnice Hrvatskoga Kraljevstva). (source)

There will be many events and commemorations considering this anniversary in Croatian and abroad. (for. ex. [1])

I would like to encourage all participants to write and expand on existing related articles. Mudroslov (talk) 20:00, 12 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
