Harvard students blog about their experiences

Harvard University's Nicco Mele is participating in the Public Policy Initiative with his course, "Media, Politics, and Power in the Digital Age" this fall. His students are in the middle of selecting articles they want to expand and registering their user names. While they're doing so, they're blogging about their experiences. Student Matt Shiraki (see Matt's blog), for example, has chosen to update the North Korea page with additional facts and photos from his recent visit. New screencast gives references how-to

The latest in our series of screencasts is now ready for viewing. In the new screencast, we walk you through how to add a reference to your Wikipedia article by using a reference tag. Other available screencasts include how to create a sandbox and how to create bold text and wikilinks between different Wikipedia articles. More screencasts will be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons soon. In the meantime, check out the references screencast.

Ambassador Steering Committee formed

The Public Policy Initiative is the pilot of the new Wikipedia Ambassador program. We want to be sure this program will continue after the duration of the grant, so we've formed a steering committee to oversee the Ambassador program. Four experienced Ambassadors and three staff members are currently on the committee. See minutes from the previous meetings and learn more about the Steering Committee.
