Introduction

edit

The Relativity Taskforce is set up to better organize and present information in all articles related to the theories of Special and General relativity. We hope that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians to improve all relativity-related articles in order to make Wikipedia the premier online resource for relativity-related information for all who visit. In order to maintain a reasonable length of relativity articles (and avoid possibly unnecessary duplication), editors are encouraged to peruse the wikibooks:

Scope & Goals

edit

The project's main aim is to concentrate solely on the classical aspects of relativity (i.e. no quantum mechanics), although some articles may mention aspects of quantum relativity. More specific goals for the project are to:

  • Present an up-to-date and mainstream view of the status of special relativity and general relativity as physical theories.
  • Carefully assess articles on non-mainstream views of relativity to determine if they should be in Wikipedia.
  • Incorporate a variety of reliable references into relativity articles.
  • Improve the quality and quantity of relativity related articles, including improving special relativity and general relativity to featured article status.
  • Include more (and expand current) articles on actual experiments to test relativity.

Participation

edit

Participation in this project is open to all users who want to contribute to relativity articles. Please add your name to the list of participants below using {{user|username}} to join the project. If you don't have a Wikipedia account yet you can sign up here.

Project Notice

edit

Type {{physics|class=|importance=|relativity=yes}} at the top of an article's talk page to indicate that it's in the relativity project; it will produce:

Relativity stubs

edit

Writing {{relativity-stub}} at the bottom of an article will indicate that the article is a relativity stub; it will produce the following template:
