Welcome to the third-annual Bacon WikiCup 2012, a side event to the Bacon Challenge 2012! The Bacon WikiCup is an event where participants in the Bacon Challenge have a chance to score points for their contributions in creating, expanding, and bettering bacon-related content on Wikipedia, similar to the Wikipedia WikiCup. The purpose of this event is to promote involvement in the Bacon Challenge with a friendly, competitive atmosphere. Upon the ending of the Challenge, the Bacon Wikicup 2012 Trophy will be awarded to the contributor with the most points. In addition, awards will be given out to the users who contribute the most in specific categories. Finally, all contributors will receive a medal for their efforts.

Scoring

All participants should report any and all bacon-related contributions to the submissions page. Points will only be scored for reported contributions! The scorekeeper will add points to the scoring table located below this section.

This scoring system serves as a guide as to how contributions for the Bacon Challenge 2012 are scored for the Bacon WikiCup. It is normally strictly followed, but may not always be if an edit is not as bacon-licious as it could be, or is more bacon-tastic than required (hint...bonus points!). Scoring is not limited to the contributions listed here - any edit that helps to expand and improve Wikipedia's coverage of bacon may be submitted for points. To submit your bacon-related contributions for scoring, please go here. New Pages Creating a new bacon-related article scores 16 points. Points for article expansion (see below) will also be given. Creating a bacon-related disambiguation page or category scores 4 points Creating a plausible redirect to a bacon-related page scores 1 point Creating a new bacon-related page in a namespace other than the mainspace is up for independent judgement by the scorer, based on the nature and size of the page in question. Article Expansion Adding 300 words of prose scores 4 points Adding an infobox, along with information in it, scores 4 points Adding a reliable source to an article scores 2 points Majorly contributing to an article and bringing it up to... Good article status scores 24 points Featured article status scores 32 points Did you know?'s A successful DYK nomination scores 4 points for the nominator, and 6 points for the key contributor(s) of the article. A DYK that earns a spot at the DYK STATS will earn an additional 5 points for both the nominator and key contributor(s). Media Uploading a self-made bacon-related image, sound, or video file scores 10 points If a sound file is a narration of an article, an additional 1 point is scored per 300 narrated words from the article (does not include the introduction). Any bacon-related image, sound, or video file that achieves featured or valued status (on either the Commons or on Wikipedia) scores the creator an additional 16 points. Uploading an appropriately licensed bacon-related image authored by someone else scores 6 points Any bacon-related image, sound, or video file authored by someone else that achieves featured or valued status (on either the Commons or on Wikipedia) scores the uploader an additional 10 points. Miscellany Successfully nominating a set of articles for featured or good topic status will earn the nominator 5 points Any bacon-related contributions that don't fit under anything above are still able to be scored, and will be scored based on the interpretation and judgement of the score keeper. Notes If an article or picture gets deleted before 2 March 2012, all points that any participant gained from their work in that article or picture upload may be lost.
