Wikipedia:WikiAfrica/Share Your Knowledge/Photographers 4 SYK
WikiAfrica | Share Your Knowledge | 30,000 contributions by 2012 | GLAM |
The subproject Share Your Knowledge (a.k.a. SYK) has been an essential component in order to achieve the goals of WikiAfrica, allowing organizations and cultural institutions to be involved in more levels in the project, other than the donation of contents. Perhaps not everybody knows that some individuals have given their contribution to SYK as well, in this case some photographers, not just Italian ones and not necessarily professionals; they have joined with their shots after being contacted personally and are listed below in alphabetic order. This page is a way of saying thank you to each of them for wanting to be part of the WikiAfrica and Share Your Knowledge "family". Many thanks also to a close friend of the Wikimedia projects, Roberto Vicario, for providing some valuable contacts and having therefore allowed the community to get a lot of beautiful pictures, several of which are of high quality. The best way to improve these partnerships in the coming months is this very special and not easy job requiring identification of these contents, placing them within the pages of the various projects WMF in all languages and featuring them on Commons'main page. The full list of photographers whose works have been imported on Commons to be included in the project is available on this report for the project (updated December 2012). Andrea ScarfòeditIn June 2012, this young Sicilian photojournalist sent his images relating to a painful event in Italian history, that is, the fights in Rosarno in January 2010, and which document both the living conditions in which immigrants lived, seasonal workers in the area and involved in the clashes, and the evictions they have suffered as a result. AnnaMaria DonnolieditIn July 2012 AnnaMaria Donnoli (Campi Bisenzio, Florence) sent photographs of her trip to the south of Ethiopia in 2010. The Omo River Valley is a World Heritage Site, and Annamaria caught especially the anthropological nuances, producing beautiful images of the people who live in the area, their customs, colors, trinkets with which they adorn their bodies. Annamaria and her husband Vittorio Bianchi are part of the video-photographic group Quinto Zoom in Sesto Fiorentino (Florence) and thanks to them, other two members of the same association have been involved so far. Gianfranco GorieditHe is part of the Quinto Zoom group as well and in 2010 he captured very special moments in the life of the tribes of the Omo Valley, capturing smiles, looks and intense moments of social interaction, like those in which people reciprocally paint their faces. Gori also contributed with spectacular photos of acrobatic kitesurfing on the green waters of Zanzibar. Giuditta NellieditShe is a public artist from Genoa, curator and president of A-POIS - Art projects to overcome impossible sites, an association for social promotion based in Lavagna. Her photos offer the artist's eye on Senegal, in particular on urban landscapes of Dakar and the island of Goree, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is the "Maison des Esclaves", a place at least symbolic of the real tragedy of the African slaves trades (see i.e. African diaspora). Harvey BarrisoneditBarrison is a Flickr user from Massapequa (NY, USA). His numerous naturalistic images on Zanzibar, the Serengeti National Park, the nature reserve of Ngorongoro, the Lake Manyara National Park, the Tarangire National Park, the Victoria Falls, Johannesburg, the Kruger National Park and Cape Peninsula, taken in a month's stay in the continent in 2012, are noteworthy and that's why in September he was formally asked to join SYK. He said he was a fan of the Wikimedia projects and honored by the appreciation, which it regards as a recognition that any serious photographer hopes for. So far, some of his works were included in 7 different language editions of Wikipedia. Iriano DinellieditDinelli (from Scarperia, Florence) is part of the willing Quinto Zoom team too, and he promptly responded to the appeal of WikiAfrica even though it was August. He is also proposing Ethiopia as seen through his lens plus Zanzibar and Mali, submitting striking portraits, ceremonies, monuments, landscapes, leisure time and work, iconic postcards from an Africa that maybe you expect, but that surprises you every time. Lard Buurman and Roberto Paci DalòeditVincenzo IaconiannieditFor this esteemed reporter from Cosenza it was not the first time on Wikimedia Commons. Fotoguru, as he prefers to be called, works with the site since 2008 and enthusiastically as usual recently shared with WikiAfrica his reports of codevelopment projects by charities Sunugal (Milan) and Gao (Cosenza). The entry of the village of Guediawaye on this Wikipedia now features some of his shots. Italian versioneditPagine correlateedit |
