I have removed the information you added to the article. Wikipedia only aims to summarise what has already been published by reliable sources such as books, newspapers and reputable web sites. This enables readers to check the information for themselves. -- John of Reading (talk) 06:35, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I've read the previous answers where you claim users cannot delete their own accounts. Sorry, but that statement is not true.

Legally, like any user, the law gives me the right to delete my own account, and the law is clear in that the website is not legally entitled to refrain from an account deletion requested by the own user.

I hereby revoke Wikipedia from any possible past, present or future use or storage of my personal data ('Habeas Data'), in particular i revoke Wikipedia any authorization to know, store, use, etc. my username or my email. (Laws like the GDPR are clear in that you cannot keep an account on without the consent of the user). If you have technical problems to do it, just solve them.

Just to let you know, people who create accounts at Wikipedia, just want to contribute, and some of us devote days or weeks of our valuable time (time we take from our own jobs and from our own salaries) to redact, collect sources, etc just to make an uninterested contribution, we do not want and cannot under any circumstance accept to be treated like dirt, disrespectfully, with critiques that are utterly destructive, demeaning, unfair, rude, offensive and clearly not intended to build anything but to destroy, harm and reassert your apparent 'position of power', I'm not going to waste my time in sterile discussions with stubborn, disrespectful editors, we only wanted to donate our time and genuinely contribute and that is simply not possible with any of you.

I don't want to have any further uncomfortable discussion with any of you.

I want my account deleted. Period.

Please tell me if you're willing to abide by the law and do it, or tell me if i have to resort to a lawyer to make you to.

I do not want to hear the same bla, bla you people you usually write in these cases: Just tell me 'yes' or 'no'. If you're not, I'm entitled to look for the help of an attorney.

Thanks, --Jffernandez (talk) 00:58, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

FreshDirect logo (upload): criteria

edit

At present FreshDirect lacks an image of their logo.

I have a junkmail postcard from them that I scanned, rotated and cropped, to eliminate the food presentations. What criteria should I use in the File Upload Wizard? Pi314m (talk) 01:30, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The logo can be downloaded from the Internet at much higher quality than you can get from scanning: [1]. Just upload it to Wikimedia Commons using c:Special:Upload and select "Logo with only simple text (wordmark)" for licensing. -- King of ♥ 01:40, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

New wikipedia page for Abdul Mathin Orlando

edit

Hi,

I have created a page for Abdul Mathin,

https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Draft:Abdul_Mathin

How and when will i get this approved. Please let me know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shamsaman (talkcontribs) 02:45, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Shamsaman: you have not yet submitted the draft for review. When you think it is ready for review, you submit it by clicking the button near the lower right of the big grey box at the bottom of the draft. However, if you submit it in its current form, it will be declined, because there are no references to reliable sources that establish notability of the subject. If fact, there are no references of any type. Please read WP:YFA to see what is needed. Also read Wikipedia:Common sourcing mistakes (notability) to see how easy it is to get it wrong. -Arch dude (talk) 03:10, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Addition to Jack Dempsey page

edit

Today I posted a photograph of Jack Dempsey going on a hunting trip wit a number of family members in around 1924. It was removed. The photo is real. The names are all correct. What do I need to keep it posted? I'm 70 years old. There are no other family members alive to validate what I posted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by David Currier (talkcontribs) 04:12, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@David Currier: Thank you for your contribution. Unfortunately, we cannot accept your word for this, because we have no mechanism to validate your identity or cross-check the validity of what you added. This is fundamental to the way Wikipedia works: we depend on publishers of reliable sources to do these checks, and we then use the material from those sources. Your best bet is to find a local historical society and contribute your information as an article to their journal. Once it is published, you may add it here. About the photo: Please modify the copyright description, as the photo is not your own work, since you were not the photographer. Instead, you inherited the photo and its copyright, so you are the legal copyright holder. Sorry about the tedious hassles about copyright: we did not make the law, but we try hard to adhere to it. -Arch dude (talk) 04:30, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help! How to publish Wikipedia article in Sandbox.

edit

Hello. I am a new to Wikipedia. I have already created and edited a new article to be added to Wikipedia. Here is the draft I made on Sandbox- https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/User:Wiki2802/sandbox How do I go about publishing this article on Wikipedia? I will need this ready in about a week or so. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiki2802 (talkcontribs) 08:13, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki2802 There are no deadlines on Wikipedia, so what is the urgent need you have to 'publish' this? If you work for or have any association with this subject, you must review and comply with WP:COI and WP:PAID; the latter is a Terms of Use requirement if you are compensated in any manner(including an internship or other unpaid-in-money work).
You can submit your draft using Articles for Creation, but it will likely take longer than a week. In addition, I don't believe that it will be accepted, as your draft is not supported with multiple independent reliable sources that have significant coverage of this person, showing how they meet the definition of a notable academic. Please read Your First Article for more information. 331dot (talk) 08:19, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I have already submitted my draft using Articles for Creation, and I am in no rush to finish the article. How long will it take to be accepted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiki2802 (talkcontribs) 08:27, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki2802 As noted in the submission tag, "This may take 6 weeks or more, since drafts are reviewed in no specific order. There are 2,312 pending submissions waiting for review." I warned you that your draft is not likely to be accepted, and I still believe that is the case. Please see your user talk page for additional information. 331dot (talk) 08:31, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I see you submitted a copy at Draft:Igor Grigorievich Chervanev. I suggest you blank User:Wiki2802/sandbox to avoid confusion between the pages. You can edit the submitted draft if you want to make improvements before somebody reviews it. Changes to the sandbox will not be seen by a reviewer. PrimeHunter (talk) 08:46, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I will delete my sandbox right away and edit only the draft. Will they review my draft within a few days or how long will it take. Will the article be published within 6 weeks? If the article is rejected, how long will it take to be eligible for review again? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiki2802 (talkcontribs) 09:38, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Before it's reviewed, it should be made free of promotional content. This will be a big step towards making the review a favorable one. -- Hoary (talk) 09:50, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by promotional content? I can't see any promotional content. Please give examples before you state that there is promotional content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiki2802 (talkcontribs) 10:03, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since 1973, he has been leading pioneering work on mathematical modeling and structural analysis of productive deposits of the Medvezhe gas field: Until you cite clear statements from reliable sources that (i) this was pioneering and (ii) he led it, the statement looks promotional. -- Hoary (talk) 11:43, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wiki2802 You state that you aren't in a rush, but said earlier that you needed it ready in a week. Why is that? 331dot (talk) 19:54, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have already edited parts of the page, What do I need to do to improve the page. Should I add sources? Please give me advice on what to remove and ideally what to add. I also want to make it very clear that my client is NOT related to the person depicted in the Wikipedia article. He barely knows him and he was interested by his many achievements in the geoecological field. My client is from the same geographical area as the person, that is why they share the same surname. Please remove the tag on my draft. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiki2802 (talkcontribs) 07:24, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to edit the page to include Glasgow in the lsit of stations as I traveeledon it on a couple of occassions. I think it would have been from Glasgow St Enoch rather than Glasgow Central to the south coast and to London. 6.38pm as I recall to various destinations. The cars were conveyed in covered vans and passengers coaches at the front of the train. There was a similar one from Waverley The Anglo Scottish Car Carrier emblazoned over the vans specially built and it ran to Holloway in North London. In editing I must have made an error as the page does not display correctly. Can you correct for me pleae. Iain McGeachy 82.46.95.160 (talk) 13:05, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Iain; I think this is regarding edits on Template:Motorail, which is the diagram of Motorail routes, am I right? For now I've just undone it; because it's a map, an addition to show Glasgow would need to show (and therefore be configured to show) the route of that train relative to the other routes, and it's not clear what that route would be from the article. (Since the article says the train was short-lived, I wonder if it should be reflected in the map at all.) YorkshireLad  ✿  (talk) 13:17, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
YorkshireLad & Iain, not really an RS, but [2] from 1961 shows an earlier Glasgow service than the 90s one in the article. It also didn't seem to last, being gone by the 1966 timetable [3]. Given it ran twice, might be worth including? ~~ Alex Noble/1-2/TRB 20:04, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox bullet formatting

edit

As to the infobox here, why is the first bullet in the location section not correctly rendered? How can that be fixed?--Hildeoc (talk) 14:33, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Hildeoc: Moxy has removed the bullets. Otherwise you could say:
| place =<nowiki />
*Europe
...
An asterisk must be at the start of a line in the output to make a bullet. Templates may place other content before parameter values on the same line. <nowiki /> is just used as a placeholder here. It doesn't output anything but ensures a newline before the asterisk. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:16, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: Thanks a lot. Another question then: Regarding the infobox section "Territorial changes", how come there is no newline displayed before "Austria cedes …" but before "The Dutch Republic …", there is?--Hildeoc (talk) 16:55, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Hildeoc:A single newline in wikitext is usually treated like a space and does not cause a line break in the output. Something in MediaWiki adds a html paragraph tag <p>...</p> in the produced html for the field but does not include the last line inside the tag. I don't know why. It may be unintentional. If you want a line break then write <br />. If you want a new paragraph then make an empty line.
I haven't seen this issue before and made a simplified example based on the format of the wikitext produced by the infobox. It makes wikitext similar to
<table><tr><td>
A
B
C</td></tr></table>
which produces:

A B

C
If we add a newline before the table cell end </td> in
<table><tr><td>
A
B
C
</td></tr></table>
then it produces the more expected

A B C

where "C" is not left outside a paragraph in the html.
MediaWiki has many small quirks. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:06, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

image of me--unauthorized and altered

edit

Hi, I'm not a seasoned editor of wiki, so I am writing to see if someone can help me.

Someone posted a pic of me that is not authorized by me, and it doesn't resemble me, and it will lead to confusion. Is there anything that can be done? It looks like it has been altered without my permission--my hair is not orange, for instance.

Can you remove it? Or, can I? I don't know what to do or how to do it. Thanks!

— Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.115.6.112 (talk) 15:29, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It appears you already uploaded File:Image of Susan Schneider.jpg as User:Philosopher of Mind in 2015. Is that OK? We require a photo with a free license and that photo is allowed if you took it yourself. The photographer and not the subject usually has the rights. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:00, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've replaced the picture by the one PrimeHunter suggests, as it seems to me a better picture. Maproom (talk) 17:12, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,thank you very much. That photo is fine, but I don't think I loaded it (I don't think I had a wiki account). I didn't edit this page, except to try to delete the other pic, and now there's a notice at the top of the pg saying 'someone close to the author edited the page.' Can that be removed? I'm sorry if my request caused additional trouble. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.115.6.112 (talk) 18:50, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So those tags were added because you, or someone editing from your IP address, did edit the article, as noted on your contributions page; since you note above that you are the article's subject, Orangemike added the tags. I've restored them; please do not remove them again, and have a look at the plain and simple conflict of interest guide before editing the page again. Thanks. YorkshireLad  ✿  (talk) 19:22, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm really surprised by this conversation. Since when do experienced WP editors simply take inexperienced editors' words that they are who they say they are? and if the previous photo is "altered", then who is this: Susan Schneider, Susan Schneider or this: Susan Schneider? They seem more in keeping with the original image that was there. The current image looks like a selfie and seems placed there on purpose by the BLP to offer a more "flattering" look (no disrespect intended; but I thought WP was not a casting agency). The OP said her hair is not "orange"; and again "no disrespect", but it doesn't seem to be naturally blonde either - as it changes considerably if one image googles the name. So where is the "altered image" part? Maineartists (talk) 19:44, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

--- I am feeling really disrespected by this last post. I don't need to be bashed for changing my hair color since I was a grad student some 20 years ago, or asking to remove a pic that seems stretched and discolored. A pic on wiki will inevitably land on every news story or flyer for the next 5 years. People will not even recognize me at events. Think of how this would feel if it was you. (Sometimes it is easy to battle through computers, but remember, there are people with feelings at the other end.) I don't need to be accused of loading a pic 5 years ago (I obviously don't have an account, or I'd use it:-) but I think it was from a reporter interviewed me at a cafe). And from what I just read, this is "outing someone" for editing, and that isn't allowed by the COI policy. (Of course, I'm appreciate the info about the COI policy, which I just read, and will bear this in mind.) But please understand that I couldn't even figure out how to reach out to email anyone on this thread. Perhaps someone will be kind enough to reach out, or consider fixing. I'm not sure what to do. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.115.6.112 (talk) 20:12, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I concur that discussions about hair color are inappropriate and rather sexist. However, I must say that if User:Philosopher of Mind was not Susan Schneider, it was somebody who was really, really, really interested in Susan Schneider and on getting her name into Wikipedia. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:16, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I'm sorry if my tone was brusque, and I apologise. I should say, I don't think I've violated the WP:OUTING policy, if you're referring to me, because I didn't post any of your information: you posted that you were the subject of the article (Someone posted a pic of me), and I restored the notice that noted that someone from the IP address of someone claiming to be the subject of the article had edited the article. If you'd like to complain about that action, the noticeboard to post such a complaint for review by administrators is at WP:ANI.
I didn't get involved with the picture discussion, FWIW, though, for full disclosure, I did remove a comment that somebody - presumably you? - added on the picture at Wikimedia Commons asking for it not to be used, since it was in the wrong place (and also removed the legally necessary information about the licensing on the photo). Also the picture suggested by PrimeHunter and added by Maproom (the one you're happy with) is still on the article, and I don't think anyone has attempted to remove it. :-) YorkshireLad  ✿  (talk) 20:24, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
PS it's generally considered that posting on-wiki is better for transparency, but if you create an account, you'll see an "Email this user" option on the left-hand side of many users' userpages (which you get to by clicking on their username), including mine. People don't tend to post their email addresses directly, because of the obvious potential for spam. YorkshireLad  ✿  (talk) 20:37, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I am shaking my head at the responses by someone claiming to be the NASA-Baruch Blumberg Chair at the Library of Congress and NASA, the director of the AI, Mind and Society ("AIMS") Group at the University of Connecticut, and a visiting member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton who worries they "will probably ... lose work" over the color of her hair. "A pic on wiki will inevitably land on every news story or flyer for the next 5 years." How do you know this? "People will not even recognize me at events." Wikipedia is not here for your personal or professional life. That's why BLPs have personal websites. There was absolutely no sexism or disrespect in my response; but a matter-of-fact statement in keeping with the original comment made by the OP. I'll leave the thread, as it is simply an opinion at this point of an authenticity claim. But I gravely think a gross mishandling has been made at the hands of a BLP request to have their image replaced for what I perceive to be vanity and not WP merit. But that is merely opinion. As I said earlier, no disrespect intended. Just WP policy argument. Best to all. Maineartists (talk) 20:50, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Maineartists,FYI, I truly don't care if there is a pic of me at all.But I'd like it to not be a pic that radically doesn't look like me and seems modified in color or stretched, and yes, in my experience, people grab the wiki pic for their articles all the time. That's not unreasonable

To any well meaning editor, I'd appreciate it if someone took those boxes out that bots loaded at the top after this thread as apparently I can't do it. And I wasn't the one who started the article and I wasn't the editor in questio. The article has been there for about 5-8 years!!! It looks like its had a long history of editing and citations to known sources and I don't think a simple request to remove an altered pic should have triggered these bot boxes. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.115.6.112 (talk) 23:10, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please remember to add a signature at the end of each message on discussion pages such as this. I notice also that you have changed the wording of some of your earlier messages in this thread. This can cause replies to appear out of context, so the talk page guidelines say that this should be avoided, though you may mark deleted text with <del>...</del>, which renders in most browsers as struck-through text, e.g., deleted. --David Biddulph (talk) 01:19, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've looked at the history of this. I have no particular interest in this person and I do not think I have ever seen a picture of her before. However I must say that I have not seen any orange hair. The first photo looks more suitable for an encyclopedia-i.e. a more sober picture.Spinney Hill (talk) 08:38, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: the OP's original request included the words "frankly, it is a bad picture and will probably cause me to lose work." Someone has subsequently removed those words. It is against Wikipedia policy to change the past history of a discussion by altering what you, or anyone else, has said, as it can make discussions hard to follow. If you have said something that you want to withdraw, you should strike through it with <s> ... </s> tags, to make it clear that you've withdrawn it, while leaving the course of the discussion clear. And no-one should alter what anyone else has said, as that would misrepresent their views. Maproom (talk) 09:11, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the comments above are incredible. "Shaking [their] head" at the notion that a "NASA-Baruch Blumberg Chair" is concerned about losing work because of hair color! Schneider does some TV work (and TV likes good-looking female commentators -- we live in a sexist world), so it's completely possible that she could lose work if the photo is unrepresentative and bad. Maybe that's none of Wikipedia's business, but don't paint her as an impostor or a vain idiot for thinking about this. Her hair does not look nearly that brassy (kind of incredible that we do not have an article on this obvious topic) in any other photos I've seen. There seems to be an issue with the color saturation or lighting in the photo. I don't think it's been "altered"--though photographers sometimes like to boost saturation in an attempt to improve images, so it's possible that happened. Instead of belittling/berating the commentator, why are we not encouraging her to upload a better-quality selfie that is neither the weird-angle one nor the weird-saturation one? That would be a win/win. 151.194.65.68 (talk) 23:31, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Updating an article and adding new citations throughout

edit

When updating an article and adding new citations throughout, do all citations within the article need to be renumbered to keep them all in numerical order? Or can new citations, added along with updated material, simply carry the next numbers in the existing order? Thank you. Mary Ellin Arch — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mearch (talkcontribs) 16:47, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Mearch: If you are using any of our normal citation methods, the references will be numbered automatically, so there is no need to number them yourself. If you are using a non-standard technique that requires manual numbering, then please switch over to one of the standard the standard techniques so other editors will not be confused. I am new to this! I created a wiki page 7 days ago and I was wondering when would it be searchable?

Do I have to submit it somewhere special?

Your response is appreciated.

You have created a draft, Draft:David A. Hood, but not submitted it for review. If you submit it in its present state, it is in my opinion unlikely to be accepted as an article, as it cites no reliable independent sources that establish that its subject is notable.   Maproom (talk) 17:18, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Maproom is correct. I will also add, for future readers, that MHRC123 has been banned indefinitely as a promotion-only account, as they have admitted that David Hood is their employer. ‡ Єl Cid of Valencia talk 17:19, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I assume the IP is referring to this article. Discussion about how to deal with the issues it raised are ongoing at Talk:Kamala_Harris#Moving_forward_with_NPOV_issues. Calliopejen1 (talk) 22:15, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Installing Huggle on a Chromebook

edit

Hello! I edit from a Chromebook and just got rollback rights, and now I am planning to install Huggle. I know that Chrome OS supports running Linux, but do I have to do anything else to get Huggle running? SuperGoose007 (Honk!) 19:47, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sabotaging the O'Donovans

edit

Hi, I am really concerned that an individual is editing information which is not correct and removing information relevant and correct to the information of the O'Donovan family. I am a direct member of the O'Donovans and I am trying to clarify information on it, its really distressing me and i feel i am been bullied. By service user Agricolae. I feel he should be blocked from editing this information.

Please help me to ensure the family are not been violated against — Preceding unsigned comment added by IrishDonovan (talkcontribs) 21:46, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I had a brief look at the article, and it looks like User:Agricolae is doing the right thing here, helping to clean up the article. By no means should he blocked, instead he should be thanked for his actions. As a member of the O'Donovan family yourself you have a conflict of interest and should not be editing the article at all. JIP | Talk 22:10, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@IrishDonovan: You can put WP:EDITREQUESTs on the talk page for anything that is incorrect, but you will need sourcing to substantiate what you request - personal narratives are unreliable sources, for obvious reasons. You can also engage on the article's Talk page. But let's be blunt here. The article was the kind of thing you get when someone writes a hagiography of their own family (and just to be clear, it was not written by the current complainant). It needed a better sense of proportion and more encyclopedic tone. In spite of all of the text that was there, it is really still Start class to low-C class and that will not improve if anyone who is not an O'Donovan is blocked from editing it. Agricolae (talk) 01:03, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

TO Donovan page was fine as it was before I edited it and other people edited it, Agricolae only came on for a short while and has not included the original settings were in which the article expressed the origins of the name. There were no previous problems in editing the item in the beginning. I would like to know where Agricolae has shown up from and why he intended to edit O Donovans and what his interests are in this field? Can someone explain to me simply, why family can not edit their families articles?

Other Irish families also provide a similar trend, is Agricolae Remove the historical content of those too? for example The O' brain dynasty? https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/O%27Brien_dynasty IrishDonovan (talk) 01:55, 7 July 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by IrishDonovan (talkcontribs) 01:53, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The answer, simply, is given at WP:Page ownership and WP:Conflict of interest. The place to discuss your concerns is on the talk page of the article. --David Biddulph (talk) 02:00, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Musician notability question

edit

I want to create a page for a musician who may or may not meet qualifications for notability based on his music alone. However, his music is part of a larger activist project for a very notable cause.

If his music is not notable alone but is when paired with his activism, would that page likely be approved or rejected? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pinktoast (talkcontribs) 22:01, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not. Notability is neither inherited nor contagious. Thus, you may be the author of a notable book, but not be notable yourself; or your music might be used as the theme for a notable TV series; but again, that doesn't make you (or the song) notable. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:11, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
But notability by association is still notable to some. Is the larger activist project notable for inclusion? or is it already on WP? On a side note, have you read the guidelines: WP:NMG? There is a classification for general notability that many people fall under at WP. Maineartists (talk) 01:10, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Addition to Jack Dempsey page

edit

Yesterday I added a photograph to the Jack Dempsey page with the following text. It was subsequently removed. Why? "This is a family photo from a trip to OxBow, Maine by world heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey around 1924. L to R, Doc Severson (a local I think), Jack Dempsey, Mary Hinds, Walter Hinds (hunting camp owner and entrepreneur), (taller) Joe Dempsey (Jack's brother), Jerry "The Greek" Luvadis (Dempsey's trainer), three brothers Ellie Currier, Almon Currier, and up on the wagon Frank Currier, my grandfather. The dog is "Pat." They visited the hunting camps of Almon which still operate today as Umcolcus Sporting Camps."

In 1979, Wicky came to the United States to attend Pepperdine University and took an interest in alternative medicine, specifically nutritional supplements. He wanted to create a direct selling company that sold nutritional supplements, so those who sign up would have access to these nutritionals to improve their health, as well as the earning potential of a multi-billion-dollar industry. A LifePharm Independent Business Owner can purchase LifePharm Products at wholesale prices. They make a commission off the value assigned to each product or product pack as well as cash bonuses as defined in the LifePharm Compensation Plan. LifePharm launched in 2011 with one product: Laminine, a supplement that contains the proprietary LifePharm Fertilized Avian Egg Extract, marine proteins and phyto proteins. Laminine was created based on research and studies dating back to 1929. John R. Davidson, a Canadian doctor, theorized that working with embryonic extracts derived from vertebrate animals might have factors that support healing or recovery mechanisms for utilizing in patients.14 Dr. Davidson was a pioneer in using vitamin therapy and embryonic extracts to support research in reversing certain disease processes in animal models and case report studies with patients he treated. He spent well over a decade developing and researching his theories.12,13,14 When Dr. Davidson passed away in 1943, his research on fertilized avian eggs was not carried on to future generations and was soon forgotten. Nearly 50 years later, the pursuit of fertilized avian egg extract was revived by Norway’s foremost expert on fertilized egg research: Dr. Bjoedne Eskeland.15 He took Dr. Davidson’s original research a step further. and hypothesized that fertilized avian eggs contained a special combination of peptides and protein biofactors that could support cellular regeneration and tissue repair beneficial to supporting health. More than 80 years later, Dr. Davidson’s initial discovery is what lead to the formulation of Laminine. The Laminine formula contains the proprietary LifePharm fertilized avian egg extract, along with a blend of marine and phyto proteins. The three ingredients together provide 22 amino acids essential for cellular health. Products[edit] Nutritional Supplements[edit] The first LifePharm supplement Laminine, contains a compound that is essential in supporting embryonic development. This compound is called Fibroblast Growth Factor 2 (FGF2). Research shows that FGF2 plays an important role in proliferation, differentiation, and survival of cells of almost all organ systems by regulating the activity of multiple genes.16 Over the last several decades, fibroblast growth factors and their receptors have shown to be highly involved in both embryonic development and tissue repair. Many studies point to somatic stem cells as primary targets of FGF signaling in both tissue homeostasis and repair.17 FGFs appear to promote self-renewing proliferation and inhibit cellular senescence in nearly all tissues tested including stem cell self-renewal.17 In addition to Laminine, LifePharm manufactures three other health supplements: OMEGA+++ focuses on circulatory health; DIGESTIVE+++ targets digestive health; and IMMUNE+++ concentrates on strengthening the immune system.; and OMNIA supports skin, hair and nail health. Skin Care[edit] LifePharm manufactures Lamiderm Apex, a skin rejuvenation serum that supports healthy skin. This serum contains the proprietary LifePharm Fertilized Avian Egg Extract.

Laminine and Telomerase Enzyme Activity In normal proliferating human cells, telomeres at the end of chromosomes are shortened at every cell division unless the cells express telomerase (the enzyme that lengthens telomeres).17 When telomeres become too short, the genomic stability is altered and a DNA-damage response is induced.17 It is theorized that telomere shortening is responsible for both somatic and stem cell aging and eventual senescence or cell death. It is therefore hypothesized that if telomerase can be stimulated to repair and lengthen telomeres then cell regeneration can ensue to continue to reproduce healthy cells.17 LifePharm scientists initiated a clinical study to determine if Laminine supports increased telomerase activity leading to more stable cell division in both somatic and stem cells. As stem cells are thought to sustain tissue growth, homeostasis and repair throughout the lifetime, observing enhanced telomerase activity would be an indicator that the regenerative potential of tissues was partially restored delaying senescence and thus cell aging.17 Dr. Rafael Gonzalez PhD observed subjects who consumed four Laminine daily for 90 days. The subjects who took Laminine did not change their diets or lifestyle habits, but still showed evidence of telomere lengthening. The study revealed that consuming Laminine supports telomerase activity that results in longer telomeres for improved health.10 Business[edit] LifePharm does not use retail channels to distribute its products. The products are distributed throughout the United States and in 45 countries around the world through a network of Independent Business Owners (IBOs).
