"The team has had 36 head coaches and one interim head coach since it started playing organized football in 1890 with the nickname Jayhawks,[1] although they played their first season without a head coach" one sentence with the phrase "head coach" three times. A little too much.

Maybe a rephrase, "Mangino won several coach of the year accolades after the 2007 season, the only Jayhawks coach to do so" or similar.

Ref 12, isn't ESPN the work?
