Automatic, Supervised, or Manual: Automatic
Programming language(s): AutoWikiBrowser
Source code available: AWB
Function overview: Sync disambiguation talk pages by replacing redirects with {{WikiProject Disambiguation}}
Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate):
- Template talk:R from move § Notes towards developing a system to fix broken / unsynchronized talk page redirects
- Adding {{WikiProject Disambiguation}} to existing talk pages for all disambiguation pages
Edit period(s): One time big run, followed by periodic smaller runs as needed
Estimated number of pages affected: 8,800+ pages on initial run
Exclusion compliant (Yes/No): Yes
Already has a bot flag (Yes/No): Yes
Function details: Editors often move a page from a base title to a parenthetically disambiguated title, and then create a new disambiguation page by converting the redirect to a dab. However, they sometimes neglect to update the talk page, which remains a redirect to the parenthetical title. The AWB list source is all pages populating Category:Unsynchronized disambiguation talk pages, converted to talk pages. The find and replace is Find: #REDIRECT(.|\n)*
(regex); Replace: {{WikiProject Disambiguation}}
(options set to not follow redirects) which will replace the contents of the redirect page with the appropriate WikiProject template.

editI'd like to see a short trial to ensure we are on the same page about your edits.
- Approved for trial (50 edits or 10 days). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. (Talk: pages only). Please post back below with your trial results, including a link to the trial run contributions. — xaosflux Talk 01:07, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

- Approved for extended trial (250 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. OK, the short run looked alright, please do another longer run. — xaosflux Talk 02:06, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

- The trial result looks good - will let this sit for a couple of days to see if there is any feedback or reversions. — xaosflux Talk 12:58, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- I observe that only 249 of the trial edits were to Talk: pages. The one of 250 not to talk namespace was to Template talk:AfC preload/disambig. Seems like a benign edit, though. wbm1058 (talk) 02:18, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
