Vishal Singh is an Indian politician and leader in the cooperative movement.[1] He currently serves as the Chairman of the National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India (NCCF), the apex body for consumer cooperatives in India under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. He was elected to this position in September 2022.[2] He is affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party[3] and serves as the President of the party’s cooperative cell in the state of Bihar.[4]

Early life and education
editHe completed his schooling at Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Amity University and a Master of Business Administration from Kalinga University.[5]
His parents, Meena Singh and Ajit Kumar Singh, both served as Members of Parliament.[6] He is the grandson of cooperative leader and parliamentarian Tapeshwar Singh.[7]
Career
editIn September 2022, Vishal Singh was appointed Chairman of the National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India (NCCF)[7], where he leads efforts to support and enhance consumer co-operatives across India.[8] Previously, he also served as the Vice-Chairman of NCCF.[9]
He has also served as the Chairman of Tapindu Urban Cooperative Bank since 2014.[10] Singh holds additional roles, including President of the Bihar Wrestling Association since February 2019[11][12] and the Kho Kho Federation of Bihar.[13]
Since 2007, he has been a Director at the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) and the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED). He has also been a Director at the National Cooperative Consumers Federation (NCCF) since 2007.[5] Additionally, He serves as the Chairman of the Indirapuram Group of Schools and Colleges.[14] He also serves as a director at the Tribal Co-operative Marketing Federation of India (TRIFED).[15]
In March 2023, Vishal Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of senior BJP leaders, including Bihar BJP President Sanjay Jaiswal, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, and Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council, Samrat Choudhary.[6][16] In September 2023, he was appointed as the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Cooperative Cell for Bihar.[4]
He has critiqued Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar's political decisions, particularly regarding alliances with parties Singh associates with corruption and criminal activities, asserting that such alliances could impede Bihar's development.[6]
In May 2024, Singh was elected as a board member of the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) for the Eastern Zone in the 2024 elections, receiving 263 votes. He defeated Sunil Kumar Singh, a Member of the Legislative Council from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).[17]
Personal life
editIn 2011, Vishal Singh married Shalini Singh, an artist and educator, and the daughter of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.[5][18]
