Hello Yarraville-com. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. -- Longhair\talk 04:20, 8 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Inconsistency of Policy Enactment: Conflict of Interest, Spam, and Restrcited Sites

edit

The guidelines at WP:SPAM ARE the Wikipedia consensus and you have to abide by them:

Quote1. Adding external links to an article or user page for the purpose of promoting a website or a product is not allowed, and is considered to be spam

Quote2. How not to be a spammer:.Review your intentions. Wikipedia is not a space for personal promotion or the promotion of products, services, web sites

This is what you attempted to do. You have made no other contribution to Wikipedia apart from linking to your websites. In addition there is nothing on your websites which adds to the existing articles.

Quote3. Many times users can be confused by the removal of spam links because other links that could be construed as spam have been added to the article and not yet removed. The inclusion of a spam link should not be construed as an endorsement of the spam link, nor should it be taken as a reason or excuse to include another.

There are millions of articles on Wikipedia. Not every article is on someone's watchlist, therefore some spamlinks will avoid detection. I hope this helps to explain why your websites were deleted. Regards. Cuddy Wifter (talk) 00:42, 13 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism

Nic, I can't do any more than you have done by deleting the offensive remark. All I can suggest is that you report it at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents. Regards, Cuddy Wifter (talk) 00:20, 2 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
